Judging from the voting results of the French general election in 2022, macron of the centrist won more than double-digit votes than expected. However, compared with the last general election in 2017, Le Pen of the far right successfully reduced the gap from 32% to 16%, and achieved the highest score of the far right in the presidential election since the promulgation of the new constitution in 1958 with a support rate of 42%.
At present, the traditional left-right opposition pattern in French politics at the national level has collapsed, the division of society has further deepened, the nationalist and protectionist forces against globalization, the European Union and immigration have been accumulating, and the far right forces may further grow.
For China, macron's pragmatic diplomatic position is more conducive to the stability and prosperity of China France relations. Le Pen's "uniting Russia against China" may reflect the views of some extreme right-wing forces on China France relations, which may increase the uncertainty of China France diplomacy in the future.
