More than European and American standards, China has made new progress in efficient and green recycling of lithium batteries
[Securities Times] recently, Professor Kang Feiyu and Professor Li Baohua from the Materials Research Institute of Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University worked together to develop an effective strategy for efficient and green recycling of retired lithium-ion batteries. Based on the accurate disassembly of charged retired batteries in water and combined with hydrometallurgical process, the efficient extraction of lithium, iron, phosphorus and other single elements from waste batteries is completed. Different from the traditional method of recycling waste batteries after discharging, this technology achieves near perfect recovery efficiency of charged batteries by disassembling charged coil batteries in water, which exceeds the goal of the U.S. Department of energy and the European Department of batteries.
