Since the 21st century, military UAV equipment has spread rapidly all over the world. As an emerging combat force, UAV has obvious advantages over manned platform. We believe that UAV system will become the key procurement direction of weapons and equipment in the future, and China’s military UAV industry will accelerate its development within the 14th five year plan.
At present, UAV technology is developing rapidly. The combination of military UAV system and artificial intelligence related technologies such as cluster control, target recognition and automatic navigation can improve the intelligence acquisition and processing ability of UAV and explore the interoperability between UAV and other weapon platforms. UAV is no longer a simple unmanned delivery platform or weapon launch platform, but a system platform with automation, intelligence and coordinated action of manned and unmanned equipment. At present, military UAV is becoming an important tool to realize national security strategy and military strategy. In November 2018, the white paper on UAV system development (2018) issued by China Aviation Industry Corporation Limited proposed that by 2025, the aviation industry will establish a UAV system equipment system with high-end breakthrough, complete system and sound capability elements; By 2035, it will reach the world-class level in the field of UAV key technology products, have the independent innovation ability to lead the development of UAV industry, and achieve market leadership and industrial development in the field of industrial applications.
We believe that China’s UAV equipment may experience three development stages:
20072022: development of medium and high altitude long endurance UAVs and pre research of unmanned wingmen
20222024: the long endurance UAV is accelerated, the pre researched models of UAVs are successively confirmed and transferred to batch production, and the industry is accelerated
20252035: multiple models and categories of UAVs are installed in a large range, and aviation weapons and equipment are developing in the direction of manned unmanned cooperation, intelligence and automation.
