Hydrogen was used in the first generation of internal combustion engines 200 years ago, which is similar to the principle of modern gasoline and other fuels. However, due to the difficulty in obtaining hydrogen in batch and the low utilization rate of energy released by direct combustion, it has not been applied on a large scale.
However, with the development of hydrogen production industry to ensure the supply of hydrogen, the development of fuel cells enables the reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to convert into electrical energy (without direct combustion), which improves the utilization rate of hydrogen energy. In December 2014, Toyota launched Mirai fuel cell vehicle with a range of 502km.
In the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, China has made a good layout of hydrogen energy. Due to high mountains and steep slopes, low temperature and slippery roads, vehicles need longer endurance and power. All winter Olympics guarantee vehicles in the core area of Zhangjiakou competition area will adopt hydrogen fuel cell buses, with an investment of more than 2000. The core vehicle suppliers are Toyota and BAIC Futian, Its fuel cell system was jointly developed by Beijing Sinohytec Co.Ltd(688339) and Toyota.
