As a listed company in Hong Kong and Shanghai, Maanshan Iron & Steel Company Limited(600808) ranked 139 in the Fortune 500 list published in 2021. The predecessor of the company was Ma’anshan Iron Works founded in 1953. In 1958, Ma’anshan Iron and steel company was established. In 1993, Maanshan Iron and steel company carried out joint-stock restructuring. On September 1 of the same year, Maanshan Iron and steel company was divided into Maanshan Iron and Steel Corporation and Maanshan Iron & Steel Company Limited(600808) . Ma’anshan Maanshan Iron and Steel Corporation, the controlling shareholder, was restructured into Maanshan Iron and steel (Group) Holding Co., Ltd. in 1998. On September 19, 2019, Anhui SASAC, which holds 100% equity of Maanshan Iron and Steel Group, transferred 51% equity of Maanshan Iron and Steel Group to China Baowu. The direct controlling shareholder of the company remains Maanshan Iron and Steel Group, and China Baowu has become the indirect controlling shareholder of the company. The actual controller of the company has been changed from Anhui SASAC to SASAC of the State Council
