Jiangjin Baisha Yangtze River Bridge, a key project in Chongqing with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan across the two sides of the Yangtze River, was completed and opened to traffic on the 26th. This marks a more convenient channel for the interconnection of Jiangjin West and Jinbei areas. At the same time, the integrated development of southern Sichuan and Western Chongqing has also ushered in new opportunities.
Baisha Yangtze River Bridge and connecting line project has a total length of 3160 meters, including 1300 meters of the bridge. The main bridge has a main span of 590 meters, a double tower and double cable plane steel box girder suspension bridge, two-way six lane, and a design speed of 60 km / h. During the construction of Baisha Yangtze River Bridge, 12 technical problems were solved and 9 national patents were obtained, setting a record for the main tower to be started and capped in the same year.
Why use two spans? Wu houwei, the design director of Baisha Yangtze River Bridge and the municipal bridge manager of Lin Tongyan International (China) bridge business department, introduced that due to the large topographic elevation difference between the two banks of the Yangtze River and the busy Yangtze River channel and Chengdu Chongqing railway, in order to adapt to the construction conditions, the two span suspension structure system rarely seen in suspension bridges is adopted, which makes the project more reasonable and the landscape more coordinated.
Wu houwei said that conventional bridges are either single span or three span, and two span suspension is very rare. Baisha bridge uses the reef exposed on the right bank to set up a bridge tower and adopts a two span suspension bridge, which not only meets the needs of navigation, flood discharge and ecology, but also ensures the permeability of the vision under the bridge and saves the project cost. In addition, the bridge is close to Baisha ancient town, a famous historical and cultural town in China, and Chongqing film and television base. In order to match Baisha’s rich historical and cultural heritage, the bridge is exquisitely carved and designed in a new Chinese style, which complements traditional buildings.
It is worth mentioning that the bridge is also located in the nature reserve of rare and unique fish in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. There are activities of carmine fish, a national second-class protected wild animal, near the bridge. Therefore, at the beginning of the preliminary research and design, the project team considered the ecological protection, adjusted the planned bridge location, designed the bridge tower on the bank slope and exposed reefs, avoided wading construction, fully protected the living environment of cochineal fish and reduced the impact on the living area of cochineal fish; At the same time, the special preparation in the early stage and the later design documents clearly require that the carmine fish should be protected in the construction process, and the fish should be proliferated and released. On this basis, the river beach wetland restoration and artificial fish nest should be put into operation.
The completion and opening of Baisha Yangtze River Bridge has further improved the layout of river crossing channels in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, promoted the traffic optimization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and even the western part of the country, and injected new impetus into the integrated development of southern Sichuan and Western Chongqing.
According to the relevant person in charge of Jiangjin District, Baisha Industrial Park, as an important part of Jiangjin joint construction of Luzhou Yongjiang integrated development demonstration area and the construction of “one area, two belts and three clusters”, the spatial distance from Luzhou and Yongchuan has always restricted the promotion of high-quality integrated development of the three places. After the bridge is opened to traffic, the South Bank of Jiangjin Yangtze River can be connected with the built Chongqing Luzhou expressway, the northwest bank can be connected with the Baisha freight station of Chengdu Chongqing railway and the express channel from Hebi Tianjin Expressway to southwest Chongqing such as Yongchuan, as well as the transportation networks in Southeast Sichuan such as Hejiang and Naxi, Xishui, Renhuai and other northern Guizhou, Baisha and even Jiangjin will gradually become important transportation nodes connected by cross in north-south and east-west regions, laying a foundation for accelerating the integrated development of luyongjiang River and even the whole southern Sichuan and Western Chongqing.
