Last year, China’s new wind power installed capacity fell by nearly 40% year-on-year

In 2021, the new installed capacity of wind power in China contracted, only about 60% of that in 2020.

On January 25, according to the news report of China Central Television, the latest data released by the national energy administration showed that in 2021, China’s new installed capacity of wind power was 47.57 million KW, down nearly 40% from last year.

A number of industry insiders told interface news that this new installed capacity is within the expected range of the industry. The industry had previously estimated that the new installed capacity in 2021 would be about 45 million kilowatts.

Last year, the new installed capacity of wind power shrank, mainly because there was a rush to install onshore wind power last year, and the installed capacity rushed to the historical peak. With the end of the rush for loading, the new onshore installed capacity fell from a high level in 2021.

According to the statistics of the national energy administration, the new installed capacity of wind power in China in 2020 was 71.67 million KW, the highest in history, higher than the sum of three years from 2017 to 2019.

2020 is the deadline for onshore wind power subsidies. In order to obtain the subsidized electricity price, the installed capacity of onshore wind power increased by 68.61 million KW that year. In 2021, the installed capacity on land was 30.67 million KW, a decrease of 55.3%.

A senior industry researcher who asked not to be named told the interface news that the statistics of the new installed capacity of the national energy administration refers to the grid connected capacity of wind power; The statistical standard of the industry association is the hoisting quantity.

Hoisting volume refers to the capacity to complete the hoisting of all civil works and generator units; Grid connected capacity refers to the capacity that is connected to the power grid and can supply power to the power grid.

According to the statistics of the wind energy professional committee of China Renewable Energy Society, the newly installed capacity of wind power in China was 54.43 million kW in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 103.2%.

Among them, the newly installed capacity of onshore wind power is 50584700 kW, and the newly installed capacity of offshore wind power is 3845300 kW.

“2020 is the year of rush installation of wind power. Some projects that are not connected to the grid at full capacity are also included in the scope of grid connection. Some projects are connected to the grid with partial fans, that is, they are connected to the grid at full capacity.” These people said.

The source told interfaced news that the hoisting capacity of China’s wind power installed capacity will be about 50 million kW in 2020 and about 40 million kW in 2021.

The person believed that the demand of the onshore wind power market did not shrink last year, but that the “dual control of energy consumption” had an impact on the wind power casting industry chain, resulting in tight supply chain, and many wind power machine manufacturers suffered from inadequate procurement and delayed delivery.

Wind power foundry enterprises are mostly distributed in eastern provinces, such as hub and frame manufacturing enterprises owned by Jiangsu and Zhejiang, which are affected by the phased impact of “dual control of energy consumption”. “If the supply chain is sufficient, the new installed capacity will be increased by at least 10-20%,” the person said.

The new installed capacity of onshore wind power decreased, while offshore wind power increased significantly.

In 2021, the newly installed capacity of offshore wind power reached 16.9 million KW, with a year-on-year increase of 452.29%, which is 1.8 times the total scale previously completed. In 2020, the newly installed capacity of offshore wind power will be 3.06 million KW.

So far, the cumulative installed capacity of offshore wind power in China has reached 26.38 million KW, surpassing the UK and ranking first in the world.

This is mainly due to the fact that in 2021, the offshore wind power developers accelerated the installation and grid connection of offshore wind power projects in the last year window period of obtaining subsidized electricity price for offshore wind power.

According to the interface news, Xinjiang Goldwind Science And Technology Co.Ltd(002202) (002202. SZ), Ming Yang Smart Energy Group Limited(601615) (601615. SH) and other complete machine manufacturers have completed the delivery of offshore wind power belt subsidy orders by the end of 2021, and wind power developers such as Huaneng Group have also completed the grid connection of relevant subsidy projects.

An analyst of Dianxin, who asked not to be named, told interface news that the new installed capacity is expected to be between 45 million and 50 million kilowatts in 2022.

The amount of wind power bidding in 2021 is still at a high level. According to the Research Report of Guorong securities, a total of 58.4 million kilowatts were tendered in the wind power industry from January to November. These bidding volumes are expected to be converted into installed capacity within one year after winning the bid.

The “double carbon” goal put forward by China will promote new energy to become the main energy, and the wind power industry will also usher in many favorable policies.

In October 2020, representatives of more than 400 wind energy enterprises around the world jointly issued the Beijing Declaration on wind energy, which proposed that during the 14th Five Year Plan period, it is necessary to ensure an annual increase of more than 50 million kilowatts. In that year, major central enterprises also successively formulated new energy development plans.

In October 2021, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council officially issued documents specifying that the total installed capacity of wind power and Cecep Solar Energy Co.Ltd(000591) power generation will reach more than 1.2 billion kw by 2030.

In December 2021, the national development and Reform Commission and the Energy Administration issued the list of the first batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic base construction projects focusing on deserts, Gobi and desert areas, with a total construction scale of 97.05 GW.

On January 21 this year, the national energy administration proposed for the first time that the construction of Fengguang large base project has become the key object of supervision, and supervised the dredging of wind power transmission channels.
