Nine valent HPV vaccine into campus

Recently, nearly 300 students from Zhaohui campus and Pingfeng campus of Zhejiang University of technology took exclusive chartered buses in batches and successively went to the health service center for nine price HPV vaccination. It is understood that this time, Zhejiang University of technology contacted nine price HPV vaccine manufacturers and successively provided HPV vaccination for 1000 schoolgirls.

Why organize this HPV vaccination? Jia Kan, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Zhejiang University of technology, explained: “our core original intention is to meet the needs of students. Previously, we found that the volume of students has accumulated a lot of demand for HPV vaccination, especially the nine valent HPV vaccine, which is difficult to make an appointment. Secondly, many well-known Chinese universities have carried out similar activities one after another, and the transmission volume is very large. We found that college students generally have such demand.”

the earlier women get HPV vaccine, the better

The latest data show that in 2020, there were about 110000 new cases of cervical cancer in China, accounting for 1 / 3 of the whole Asia The etiology of cervical cancer is clear. 99.7% are caused by high-risk HPV persistent infection. It is the only malignant tumor that can be prevented at present.

The full name of HPV is human papillomavirus, which is easy to infect human epidermis and mucosal squamous epithelium. The route of infection is contact transmission. At present, more than 200 types of HPV have been found. HPV can be divided into high-risk type and low-risk type according to different carcinogenicity. The high-risk type mainly causes cancer in cervix, anus and genitalia, and the low-risk type mainly causes condyloma acuminatum and benign lesions.

Pang Yuping, President of the hospital of Zhejiang University of technology, introduced that HPV infection in Chinese women presents a bimodal characteristic, with one peak of infection being 17-24 years old and the other 40-44 years old. In the former age group, women are concentrated in universities, so we first encourage mass vaccination of female college students. President Pang stressed: “at present, the incidence of cervical cancer in China is younger, so I suggest that the earlier women are vaccinated with HPV vaccine, the better, especially before they have sex, they can get the best benefit. Of course, for women who have had sex, research shows that vaccination with HPV vaccine also has a good protective effect.”

three different price types are selected

At present, there are three kinds of HPV vaccines available at the age of 16-45 as a means of preventing cervical cancer (at the age of 9-45), and at the market price of 16-45, respectively.

Yan Chunxiao, director of the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Medical College of Zhejiang University, introduced that the difference between the three vaccines is the difference between the age group and the virus type. Vaccines with high “price” cover more types of HPV. Bivalent HPV vaccine includes 16 and 18 high-risk types, which can prevent 70% of cervical cancer. On the basis of type 16 and 18, the tetravalent HPV vaccine also added two low-risk types 6 and 11, which can cause condyloma acuminatum. Therefore, in addition to preventing 70% of cervical cancer, tetravalent can also prevent 90% of condyloma acuminatum. The nine valent HPV vaccine includes two low-risk types and seven high-risk types, namely 6 / 11 / 16 / 18 / 31 / 33 / 45 / 52 / 58. Among them, HPV16, 52 and 58 are the most susceptible high-risk HPVs for Chinese women. At present, only nine valent HPV vaccine can cover these types to prevent about 92% of cervical cancer and 90% of condyloma acuminatum.

It is reported that in the first quarter of this year, the approval and issuance of nine price HPV vaccine in China increased by nearly 280% year-on-year. This year, it is expected to be approved in China for women of a wider age group, and continue to significantly increase the supply to the Chinese market. It is believed that the difficulty of making an appointment at that time is expected to be significantly alleviated.

multi pronged approach to prevention and treatment of cervical cancer

There are very clear three-level preventive measures for cervical cancer. HPV vaccination and health education are primary. Secondary prevention is regular screening. The purpose of HPV vaccination is to reduce the infection rate. The state recommends that women aged 25 to 64 can do regular cervical cancer screening. Tertiary prevention is the treatment of cervical cancer. Appropriate surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are carried out according to clinical stages. Prevention is more important than treatment, and actively carrying out primary prevention of cervical cancer is the focus of cervical cancer prevention and control in many places in China.

At the end of April, Zhejiang University of Technology launched 1000 HPV vaccine reservation activities on wechat, and the students actively signed up. After examination, more than 7000 students met the registration conditions. After consulting the teachers of relevant disciplines and after research and discussion, the school formulated the method of random lottery, invited the teacher representatives and student representatives to conduct public lottery under the supervision of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, and fairly drew 1000 vaccination places.

In response to students’ questions and messages about vaccination, the school also specially invited director Yan to hold online lectures for teachers and students before HPV vaccination to explain the harm of HPV, the significance of HPV vaccination, the division of HPV vaccine, vaccination procedures and precautions to students. In this way, the school has expanded the accessibility of vaccines and shortened the vaccination path as much as possible in accordance with the principle of fairness and justice, which has won unanimous praise from students.

Secretary Jia said: “There are about 20000 school-age women in our school, and more than 7000 people have signed up, indicating that about one third of the students hope to get the opportunity of nine valent HPV vaccination through our way, which is a very high proportion. We hope to continue to get the support of community hospitals, disease control and vaccine manufacturers, carry out similar activities regularly, continue this project, and benefit more school-age female teachers and students in the future.”
