The "price rise tide" of new energy vehicles is coming, and many car enterprises are quietly taking action

After the decline of subsidies for new energy vehicles, a wave of price rise surged rapidly in the new energy vehicle industry.

Recently, the reporter of Huaxia times found during his visit that the prices of some new energy models have quietly increased, including Tesla, Xiaopeng automobile, GAC aion s plus, Volkswagen's id.6 crozz and id.4 crozz. The price increases range from thousands of yuan to tens of thousands of yuan.

On December 31, 2021, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of industry and information technology, the Ministry of science and technology and the development and Reform Commission jointly issued the notice on the financial subsidy policy for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles in 2022, which clearly stated that the subsidy for new energy vehicles will decline by 30% on the basis of 2021 from January 1, 2022. At the same time, it is pointed out that vehicles licensed after December 31 will no longer be subsidized.

In other words, after the subsidy declines in 2022, the subsidy for pure electric passenger vehicles meeting the requirements of "300 km ≤ endurance mileage < 400 km" will be reduced by 3900 yuan; For pure electric passenger vehicles that meet the requirements of "mileage ≥ 400 km" and the price does not exceed 300000 yuan, the subsidy will be reduced by 5400 yuan; The subsidy for plug-in hybrid (including add-on program) passenger cars will be reduced by 2040 yuan. Moreover, the price of the above two new energy models is required to be less than 300000 yuan.

As soon as the news came out, the industry predicted that the price of new energy vehicles might rise. Tesla and new power auto companies took the lead in raising prices.

At the end of 2021, Tesla took the lead in announcing the price increase. At present, the prices of its domestic model 3 and model y rear wheel drive models are 265700 yuan and 301800 yuan respectively, up 10000 yuan and 21000 yuan respectively. Model y does not enjoy state subsidies because it exceeds the subsidy standard line of 300000 yuan.

On January 11, Xiaopeng officially announced the adjusted price of all models. Xiaopeng P7 increased by 4300-5900 yuan, and the selling price after the latest subsidy was 224200-409900 yuan; Xiaopeng P5 increased from 157900-223900 to 162700-229300, with an increase of 4800-5400 yuan; Xiaopeng g3i increased from 149800-187800 to 154600-193200, and the whole system increased by 4800-5400 yuan.

The manufacturer's guide price was also raised after subsidies for Nezha u and Nezha V models. Among them, some models of Nezha u are increased by 3000-5000 yuan, and some models of Nezha V are increased by 2000 yuan. Nezha V Pro Long-range Intelligent fun version and long-range intelligent enjoyment version were increased by 2000 yuan.

Because the price of ideal one exceeds 300000 yuan, ideal car does not enjoy subsidies or raise the price. However, its official app shows that from February 1, the lifetime warranty rights of the first owner's three power and extended range system will be cancelled and adjusted to 8 years or 120000 km.

In December last year, Weilai automobile issued a price protection announcement, saying that users who pay a deposit to buy es8, ES6 and ec6 SUV models before December 31, 2021 (inclusive) and pick up the car before March 31, 2022 can buy the car according to the national new energy vehicle subsidy standard in 2021, and the price difference shall be borne by Weilai. However, consumers who buy from January 1 will no longer enjoy the above concessions.

In addition, since January 1, gac-e'an has also adjusted the price. The price range of 2022 gac-e'an aion s plus after subsidy is 153800-179800 yuan, which is 7000-14000 yuan higher than that in 2021; The price of 2022 aion y has been increased by 5000 yuan to 9000 yuan; Aion LX increased by 4000 yuan.

Volkswagen is also announcing a price increase from January 1, 2022, and the two pure electric vehicle models id.6 crozz and id.4 crozz will rise by 5400 yuan as a whole. After adjustment, the starting price of id.6 crozz is RMB 242200; Id.4 crozz starts at 205300.

During the interview, the reporter of Huaxia times also found that there are still some new energy vehicles without price increase. The salespeople of Great Wall Euler and Byd Company Limited(002594) said that they have not received the notice of price increase and still maintain the original price, and some models of Euler have discounts.

the overall trend is good, and the price will drop steadily

In fact, the price rise of new energy vehicles is also expected. In addition to the decline of subsidies, part of the reasons behind the price rise are the shortage of chips and the increase of power battery costs. Some leading lithium battery enterprises have raised prices one after another, because the price of lithium battery raw materials has increased significantly in 2021, and the prices of Li battery cathode materials and electrolyte have continued to rise.

According to the view of the industry, in a short time, the decline will cause the upward fluctuation of model price and affect consumers' purchase intention, but in the long run, new energy vehicles have become a rigid demand, with little overall impact.

Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the national passenger car market information joint committee, said: "the 30% decline in subsidies will have a certain impact on the growth rate of new energy vehicles. Facing the challenges of the post subsidy era, car enterprises are bound to adjust their prices. However, price increase is a short-term phenomenon. If car enterprises want to maintain competitiveness, price decline is a long-term trend."

At present, China's new energy vehicle market is developing rapidly. According to the data, in 2021, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 3.545 million and 3.521 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times, and the market share reached 13.4%, 8 percentage points higher than that of the previous year. Among independent brands, Byd Company Limited(002594) in 2021, the annual sales volume of new energy passenger vehicles reached 593700, a year-on-year increase of 231.6%. Among the new forces of car making, Xiaopeng, Weilai and ideal all delivered more than 90000 vehicles. Nezha, Weima and Zero run delivered 69700, 44200 and 43100 vehicles respectively.

It can be seen from the data that the current new energy vehicle market is hot. With the rapid growth of the market and the gradual decline of subsidies, China's new energy vehicle industry is changing from policy oriented to market-oriented, and the competition will become increasingly fierce.

On January 11, the national passenger car market information joint meeting released a report that the subsidy scale in 2022 was not locked from the originally expected upper limit of 2 million vehicles, and the subsidy will be realized throughout the whole year of 2022. At the same time, the sales forecast of new energy vehicles in 2022 was raised. The passenger Federation said that the original sales forecast of new energy passenger vehicles in 2022 was 4.8 million, which should be adjusted to more than 5.5 million at present, and the penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles reached about 25%.

China Automobile Association pointed out that with the gradual improvement of problems such as insufficient chip supply at the supply end and high raw material prices in the new year, it is expected that the automobile market will continue to show a steady and positive development trend in 2022, and the annual production and sales performance is better than that in 2021.

Anxin securities also said that in the medium and long term, electrification has become the consensus of traditional car enterprises and new forces in car manufacturing. The resonance between the supply side and the demand side has promoted the industry to enter the stage of spontaneous growth. After the withdrawal of subsidies, the market prospect of new energy vehicles is still optimistic. The prosperity of new energy vehicle industry is expected to continue in 2022.
