At Bole International Airport in the Ethiopian capital, kominist, an Ethiopian boy in protective clothing, is busy in the gas film cabin of the "fire eye" laboratory.
Cominister is a biological laboratory engineer, mainly engaged in the work of experimenters in the "fire eye" laboratory. " working with my Chinese colleagues gave me a good opportunity to learn from their technical experience. they (Chinese colleagues) taught me how to program equipment and instruments and how to operate automatic nucleic acid extractors. Now I can operate these devices independently."
On April 16, 2021, the "fire eye" laboratory invested and constructed by Bgi Genomics Co.Ltd(300676) was officially put into use at Bolai International Airport. The designed flux of the laboratory is 1000 samples per day, which can provide nucleic acid detection services for up to 400 passengers in 3 hours. "Accurate detection and rapid delivery" has become a distinctive label of the "fire eye" laboratory, which also brings great convenience to the rapid quarantine work of this international transportation hub.
"With the completion of this' fire eye 'laboratory, passengers passing through Bolai International Airport in Ethiopia do not need to go out from the waiting hall for (nucleic acid) testing. They only need to wait in the airport transfer area for 3 hours to get the results and continue to the next destination." Chen songheng, general manager of Huada group in Africa.
As of March 2022, the "fire eye" laboratory has launched cooperation projects in 9 African countries such as Ethiopia, Angola and Tanzania, which has greatly improved the local detection and diagnosis capacity.
While bringing advanced technology and equipment to improve the detection capacity, Bgi Genomics Co.Ltd(300676) also provides training and technical support for local employees to jointly cope with the difficulties and challenges brought by covid-19 epidemic.
