Under the guise of "caring for the elderly" and "serving the elderly", some criminals commit fraud in the name of "providing for the elderly", which has brought serious economic losses and mental pain to the majority of the elderly. According to media reports, five elderly care fraud cases were sentenced in Jiangsu recently, with 1500 elderly victims and a total amount of 2 billion yuan involved. 19 defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment ranging from six months.
In order to crack down on the illegal crimes of pension fraud in accordance with the law and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly in accordance with the law, according to the deployment requirements of the Central Committee, the municipal Party committee and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Shanghai procuratorial organ recently quickly organized a special action to crack down on pension fraud. So, what are the common routines of pension fraud? How can the elderly and children see through these scams and beware of being cheated?
pension fraud has the following six common tricks:
scam I: health care scam
Criminals will attract the attention of the elderly by distributing leaflets and giving gifts in parks, neighborhood, hospitals and other places where the elderly often move, and guide the elderly to participate in the so-called "health lectures" step by step.
Under the circumstances of fraud, the purpose is to deliberately lay the foundation for the elderly and family members to understand the crime situation. Then, criminals will popularize health knowledge and provide free physical examination in the name of "experts", use the elderly's attention to their own health to trigger their anxiety, and then lure the elderly to buy "health products" with various magical effects at a high price.
In fact, these health products do not have any efficacy they publicize, even the "three noes" products. When the elderly found that they had been cheated and wanted to apply for a refund, the criminals had already "hacked" the elderly and ran away.
scam II: pension service scam
Criminals will cater to the dual needs of elderly care and investment. In the name of investing in pension bases, apartments for the elderly, pre-sale of pension beds and other projects, they will lure elderly customers to visit and play in the so-called pension bases and welfare homes, make up the bright prospects and high returns of their so-called "pension projects", and lure the elderly to pay high fees in advance in the form of "card handling", "recharge" and "pre purchase beds".
Subsequently, criminals will promise the elderly to invest in their so-called "pension services", which can not only enjoy high interest returns, but also enjoy medical care, care and escort services in the institution, and can stay in all the pension institutions of the company free of charge as VIP at any time.
In fact, the fraudsters have no so-called pension services at all, and the money they cheat is used by them to squander.
scam III: housing pension scam
Criminals will cover up the essence of illegal fund-raising in the name of national policies, entice the elderly to handle real estate mortgage under the banner of "providing for the aged with housing" and high-yield return, and then entice the elderly to use the money from the mortgaged house to buy the "financial products" they recommend. Their fictional "housing for the elderly" not only does not affect the elderly living in the original house, but also has rich returns every month.
In fact, these fraudsters simply do not have the corresponding qualifications and capabilities. Their claim of "providing for the aged with housing" has nothing to do with the national pilot housing reverse mortgage endowment insurance. The money of the cheated old man's mortgage finally went into the pockets of criminals. As a result, he not only lost his house, but also took on a huge loan.
scam 4: art investment scam
Many old people are keen on collecting calligraphy, paintings, commemorative coins and other works of art. They think they can be used not only as a hobby, but also as an investment. Due to the high non-standard, subjectivity and scarcity of works of art, it is often difficult for ordinary people to identify themselves, which provides an opportunity for criminals.
Criminals will package their company as an art company and forge various identification certificates to prove the value of the "art" they sell. The company carries out publicity by issuing advertising leaflets, online publicity, telephone and other means to attract the elderly to invest and buy.
They will sign contracts with the elderly, promise to get high cash back while holding these "works of art", and claim that the company will hold regular auctions to buy back these "works of art" at a high price.
In fact, these so-called "works of art" are only ordinary handicrafts, and the purchase price is very low. After the criminals collect the money, there is no rebate, let alone hold the so-called auction.
scam 5: Travel scam
After retirement, the elderly "have money and leisure" and often go out to travel to relax and adjust their lives. Criminals often take advantage of the enthusiasm and frugal living habits of the elderly to go out and play, and organize tourism activities at unreasonable low prices or even free of charge to attract the elderly to participate in group tours.
In fact, in the process of tourism, criminals will arrange various shopping links to sell goods to the elderly at a price much higher than the market for profit, and some even force them to buy and sell through threats. Some so-called travel agencies will also use prepaid card fees, membership fees, financial products and other forms to lure the elderly to "consume" and "invest" in projects that do not exist.
scam 6: endowment insurance scam
Some criminals lied that they knew the staff of the human resources and Social Security Bureau, the Social Security Bureau and other departments, and first made friends with the elderly, so as to cheat the trust of the elderly. Subsequently, these criminals will cheat the elderly to pay a large amount of endowment insurance fees at one time on the grounds of handling endowment insurance business, and lie that this can not only increase the amount of endowment insurance, but also receive a one-time pension in advance.
Some criminals will pretend to be the staff of banks and insurance institutions and charge the so-called material fees and benefit fees from the elderly to defraud money on the grounds of "early retirement" and "old-age insurance".
In fact, these criminals have no relevant qualification and ability to handle the old-age insurance business. After they get the "old-age money" of the elderly, they don't help the elderly pay the old-age insurance, but squander it all by themselves.
for the prevention of pension fraud for the elderly, the prosecutor gave 5 suggestions: 23456 points:
1 , maintain correct health care concept
Do not trust the so-called "health care products" with magical effects, and obtain scientific health care knowledge from formal medical institutions and other channels.
2 , remember "there will be no pie in the sky"
"There is no free lunch in the world", do not be greedy for cheap, do not believe in all kinds of "free lectures" and "free tea parties" carried out by the so-called company, and be wary of all kinds of publicity with "steady profit without loss", "low investment and low risk" but high return.
3 , protect your personal information properly
Do not click on various unfamiliar links, and do not fill in personal information such as ID number and bank card number in unfamiliar or irregular websites and institutions.
4 , not trusting others
Be cautious about SMS or phone calls of employees claiming to be employees of banks, insurance institutions or national institutions. In case of doubt, you can discuss with adult children at the first time, or call the official telephone of corresponding institutions in time for verification, or contact the public security organ in time for verification.
5 , raising awareness of anti fraud
Pay more attention to the anti fraud publicity carried out by the news media or streets and communities, and improve vigilance. You can download the app of the national anti fraud center to effectively intercept fraud calls and text messages.
