Zhang Yong connects 300 platform businesses: Ali is duty bound to do more practical things for businesses

On May 20, in an online communication activity with more than 300 consumer goods enterprises outside China, Zhang Yong, chairman and CEO of Alibaba group, said that it is Alibaba’s bounden responsibility to stand firmly with platform merchants, meet consumer needs and improve the certainty of business operation.

During the epidemic, many businesses were affected to varying degrees, and Alibaba felt the same as a platform. Zhang Yong said, “I like to say the old saying, ‘strive to find certainty in uncertainty’. In special times, we are doing more practical things within our ability. We hope that Alibaba’s services will give businesses more certainty. In the uncertainty, we should find the certainty of operation and consumer demand, so as to organize the certainty of supply.”

On the same day, more than 300 tmall merchants participated in this online exchange. Zhang Yong repeatedly mentioned that he firmly believed in the power of consumption in economic development.

The impact of the epidemic is a variable and consumer demand is a constant. Behind the more than 300 leading consumer goods enterprises are tens of millions of manufacturing enterprises, all links of the industrial chain and hundreds of millions of consumers. Consumption is one of the core development strategies of Alibaba group. “With the continuous promotion of the whole consumption strategy, Alibaba has formed a cross business and multi scenario business form, hoping to provide businesses with a better digital business position,” Zhang Yong said.

During the exchange, Zhang Yong also invited platform partners to jointly think about social responsibility in development. Alibaba group released the Alibaba carbon neutralization action report last December, promising to achieve carbon neutralization in its own operations no later than 2030, and creatively put forward the concept of “scope 3 +”, that is, “using the platform to drive ecological carbon reduction of 1.5 billion tons in 15 years”. Zhang Yong also announced the “brand carbon reduction consumption action”, hoping to jointly develop low-carbon goods with businesses, promote green consumption, promote green logistics, and form a resonance with businesses based on green goals.

On April 29, Taobao tmall launched 20 articles of “Nong Hao Shanghai” to provide a series of precise relief measures for businesses in Shanghai. On May 13, on the eve of 618, based on the actual pain points faced by businesses under the epidemic, a total of 25 support measures were launched to all participating businesses. “We hope to provide more support for business partners.
