Decline in milk production, Greek gravera cheese may face shutdown

Recently, energy and feed prices have continued to rise, which has brought great cost pressure to farmers on the Greek island of Naxos. In order to make a living, farm operators are slaughtering livestock with less milk production, and the local famous Granville cheese may also be discontinued due to lack of milk source. The head of the Naxos agricultural Federation said that more than 300 cows and more than 30000 sheep have been slaughtered on the island, which is expected to reduce local milk production by 30% this year. In order to reduce losses, the Federation is considering stopping the export and production of some cheese products.
