Xin Guobin pointed out that affected by the multi-point spread of covid-19 pneumonia and other factors, China’s automobile production and sales fell sharply year-on-year in April, and the rapid growth trend of new energy vehicles slowed down. The Ministry of industry and information technology resolutely implemented the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, took prompt action with relevant local governments and departments, organized the establishment of a “smooth coordination platform for the supply chain of the automobile industry chain”, established a ministry, province (city) collaborative linkage mechanism, promoted more than 4000 batches of enterprises to solve the problems of material flow transportation and resumption of work and production, and actively opened up the blocking points of the supply chain of the industrial chain for automobile enterprises. With the joint efforts of all parties concerned, the resumption of work and production of the automobile industry has achieved phased results, the automobile production and sales have gradually recovered, and the kinetic energy of hitting the bottom and rebounding is gathering. According to the statistics of the passenger car market information joint meeting, from May 1 to 15, the retail sales of passenger cars in China were 483000, a year-on-year decrease of 21%, a decrease of 13 percentage points compared with the same period last month.
Xin Guobin stressed that the automobile industry is an important pillar industry of the national economy. It has a long industrial chain, wide coverage and strong driving force. At present, it is facing the “two-way pressure” of blocked supply and weak demand.
