“Haisi” helps Fuzhou speed up building a strong marine city

The second general meeting of the 21st century maritime cooperation committee and the “smart ocean” theme forum were held in Fuzhou on May 17 in the form of “Online + offline”. The constitution of the 21st century Maritime Cooperation Committee (Revised Version) was deliberated and adopted, and the Presidium and Secretary General of the new committee were announced. Among them, Wu Xiande, mayor of Fuzhou, served as the chairman of the new committee.

Wu Xiande pointed out that in the five years since its establishment, the 21st century maritime cooperation committee has participated in the joint construction of the maritime Silk Road with high quality, which has not only built a cooperation bridge for member cities and organizations, but also provided a new carrier for Fuzhou to manage the ocean and expand its opening-up. Fuzhou will give full play to the advantages of the strategic fulcrum city in the core area of the “Haisi” and strive to build a strong marine city.

Fuzhou, with a history of more than 2200 years, was born with the sea, prospered by the sea and prospered by expanding the sea. It is a port city participating in creating the glory and dream of the “maritime Silk Road”. In the 1990s, as one of the first 14 coastal open cities in China, Fuzhou put forward the idea of building a “maritime Fuzhou” and took the lead in issuing the declaration of “marching into the sea”. The “special plan for Fuzhou’s marine economic development in the 14th five year plan” issued in January this year proposed to launch the international brand of Fuzhou on the sea, promote the high-quality development of marine economy and help the construction of a modern international city.

Professor Dai Yongwu, School of economics and management, Fujian agriculture and Forestry University, believes that taking the construction of the core area of “Haisi” as the traction, comprehensively improving the level of opening to the outside world and shaping new advantages in international cooperation and competition will further promote Fuzhou to strive for an international comprehensive transportation hub City and a marine central city with important international influence.

Connecting the four seas with ports is the advantage of Fuzhou in building a strong marine city. In Jiangyin port area of Fuzhou port, about 6000 containers are transported and distributed every day. Grain, wood and chemical fiber materials are imported into Fuzhou from here, and shoes, handicrafts, ceramic tiles, wind power equipment and other products are also transported to all parts of the world from here. Behind the wharf, “silk road harbor city” accelerated its rise. This year, Fuzhou will speed up the construction of berths 6 to 9 in Jiangyin port area, berths 6 to 7 in Luoyuan Bay port area and reclamation of niukeng Bay in Luoyuan.

Thanks to the advantages of the port, green energy cooperation such as wind power equipment is becoming a new hot spot of economic and trade exchanges along the “maritime Silk Road”. On April 24 this year, the trash rack project at the inlet of Julius nyerer hydropower station in Tanzania undertaken by Sinohydro bureau 4 (Fuqing) equipment Engineering Co., Ltd., an enterprise in Fujian Three Gorges Offshore Wind Power Industrial Park, was successfully delivered.

Lei zengjuan, Secretary of the Party committee and executive director of the Three Gorges Group Fujian Energy Investment Co., Ltd., introduced that the industrial park will be built into an offshore wind power equipment manufacturing base with strong R & D capacity, leading technical level, high degree of industrial agglomeration, market competitive advantage, based in Fujian, facing the coast and radiating the world. Up to now, five enterprises, including Xinjiang Goldwind Science And Technology Co.Ltd(002202) , Dongfang wind power, have been introduced to form a complete industrial chain of fans, motors, blades and steel structural parts; The products are not only widely used in China’s offshore wind power development, but also exported to Ethiopia, Turkey and other countries and regions along the “Silk Road”, becoming an important commodity for the construction of “Silk Road shipping”. This year, more products will be sold to Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Vietnam, Tanzania, etc.

In the face of the adverse impact of covid-19 pneumonia, while economic and trade exchanges continue to deepen and consolidate, Fuzhou also actively promotes the “Haisi” people to people and cultural exchanges. In November last year, the seventh “maritime Silk Road” (Fuzhou) International Tourism Festival was held in Fuzhou, and the “big data report on the cultural and tourism industry of the maritime Silk Road” was released on site.

How to speed up the building of a strong marine city? Wu Xiande suggested that we should deepen industrial cooperation between countries and regions along the “Haisi Silk Road”, promote mutual benefit and win-win results, give full play to the advantages of all parties, actively promote the strengths of all parties and do their best to further strengthen international industrial cooperation. Expand the functions of the platform, enhance the service capacity, actively promote the construction of the 21st century maritime cooperation center, and build it into a maritime cooperation think tank, a marine industry docking platform, a marine information sharing node, a marine talent training base and a highland of marine international exchanges.
