Recently, Wuhan Branch of China Classification Society held a factory approval certificate issuing ceremony for high manganese austenitic low temperature steel (hereinafter referred to as high manganese steel) series products, and issued a factory approval certificate for high manganese steel sector of Hegang. Hegang has become the first enterprise in China and the second enterprise in the world to obtain the high manganese steel product factory certification of China Classification Society. This marks a major breakthrough in the R & D and innovation of China’s high manganese steel sector and a key step in the localization of high manganese steel LNG storage tank materials.
High manganese steel is one of the key materials for LNG container manufacturing. In recent years, Hegang, China Classification Society, China Shipbuilding Industry 725 Institute and other units have jointly established a multi-party cooperation platform for the R & D of high manganese steel industrial chain, jointly formulated the technical route for the R & D and application of high manganese steel in China, overcome a series of technical bottlenecks such as the performance regulation of high manganese steel materials, the R & D and matching of welding materials and the forming and preparation of storage tanks, formed independent key technologies for the manufacturing and application of high manganese steel, and broke the foreign technical monopoly on LNG high manganese steel sectors.
At present, Hegang has become the first enterprise in China with the capacity of mass production of 40mm thick steel sector in IMO (International Maritime Organization) guidelines and 63.5mm thick steel sector in American pressure vessel standard. The physical properties of the developed high manganese steel sector have reached the international advanced level.
