National Energy Administration: the development of renewable energy made a good start in the first quarter

On April 29, the National Energy Administration held an online press conference for the second quarter. Wang Dapeng, deputy director of the Department of new and renewable energy, said that the development of renewable energy had a good start in the first quarter of 2022.

The installed capacity of renewable energy has expanded steadily. In the first quarter of 2022, China's renewable energy installed capacity increased by 25.41 million KW, accounting for 80% of the country's new power generation installed capacity. Among them, hydropower increased by 3.43 million KW, wind power increased by 7.9 million KW, photovoltaic power increased by 13.21 million KW and biomass power increased by 870000 kW, accounting for 10.8%, 24.9%, 41.6% and 2.7% of the country's new installed capacity respectively. By the end of March 2022, China's installed capacity of renewable energy power generation had reached 1.088 billion kw. Among them, the installed capacity of hydropower is 394 million kW (including 38 million kw of pumped storage energy), wind power is 337 million KW, photovoltaic power generation is 318 million KW and biomass power generation is 38.83 million KW.

Renewable energy power generation has increased steadily. In the first quarter of 2022, the national renewable energy power generation reached 533.6 billion kwh. Among them, hydropower was 221.2 billion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%; 183.3 billion kwh of wind power, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%; Photovoltaic power generation was 84.1 billion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 22.2%; Biomass power generation was 45 billion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 18.3%.

Renewable energy continues to maintain a high level of utilization. In the first quarter of 2022, the water energy utilization rate of major river basins in China was about 99.9%, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the same period of last year; The average utilization rate of wind power in China was 96.8%, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the same period last year; The average utilization rate of photovoltaic power generation in China was 97.2%, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points over the same period last year.
