Six ships with a total amount of more than 8 billion yuan, Hudong Zhonghua signed the largest single LNG order in China’s shipbuilding history

Under the situation of outbreaks in some areas, the order business of Chinese shipyards was not affected, but hit a new high.

On April 28, the signing ceremony of the long-term LNG transportation project between China and Tianjin (FOB) was held in Beijing and Shanghai As joint sellers, Hudong Zhonghua shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. and China Cssc Holdings Limited(600150) Industrial Trading Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Cssc Holdings Limited(600150) group, jointly signed the construction contract of six 174000 m3 large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ships with the buyer on behalf of Japan Post Shipping Co., Ltd. (NYK). CNOOC Power & Gas Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CNOOC, as the charterer, signed the project charter agreement with the representatives of the ship owner at the ceremony.

It is understood that the total amount of the six LNG ships signed this time reached more than 8 billion yuan, once again breaking the record of the largest one-time contract amount of 7.5 billion yuan of LNG ships created at the beginning of this year. It is also the third large LNG ship order obtained by Hudong Zhonghua Haohao, following the six ships of “CNOOC medium and long-term FOB resource supporting LNG transportation project (phase I)” on January 7 and the four ships of “Qatar 100 ship construction plan – capacity expansion ship purchase project of northern Qatar gas field” on April 10.

So far, in the first four months of this year, Hudong Zhonghua has undertaken a record 17 LNG ship orders, surpassing Korean ship enterprises and ranking first in the world. While realizing the “double improvement” of signing quality and quantity, Hudong Zhonghua has further consolidated its leading position and leading advantage in China’s LNG industry chain.

The ship type signed this time is based on the world’s latest generation of “Changheng series” dual fuel propulsion 174000 m3 LNG ship independently developed and designed by Hudong Zhonghua, tailored according to the special needs of the project, integrating the latest design concept, the best technical equipment, the strongest environmental protection performance and the most forward-looking. The ship has a total length of 299 meters, a shape width of 46.4 meters, a shape depth of 26.25 meters and a speed of 19.5 knots. It adopts x-df dual fuel engine and the latest generation of double stern fin line. It is equipped with the latest generation of GTT no96 super + cargo enclosure system. It has the characteristics of good fast performance, light empty ship weight, low comprehensive energy consumption, wide ship shore compatibility, skillful operation and maintenance, and strong adaptability of liquid cargo treatment system to different routes. The energy consumption and loading capacity of the world’s top ships (EEDI) have been reduced by more than 10 cubic meters per day, which meets the world’s top environmental protection index, and its loading capacity has reached the fourth level of energy efficiency (EEDI). In December 2021, the ship obtained the certificates of GDA and PCA issued by ABS, BV, LR and DNV.

It is understood that the joint owners of the project include CNOOC Group Co., Ltd., China Merchants Group Co., Ltd. and Japan Post ship.
