On January 12, the Ministry of industry and information technology held a press conference on the development of automobile industry in 2021. Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and Secretary General of China Automobile Industry Association, said that China's automobile market will continue to grow in 2022. Specifically, in 2022, China's total auto sales are expected to reach 27.5 million, with a year-on-year increase of about 5%. Among them, there were 23 million passenger cars, a year-on-year increase of 7%; 4.5 million commercial vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 6%; New energy vehicles will reach 5 million, a year-on-year increase of 42%, and the market share is expected to exceed 18%.
Fu Bingfeng believes that with the gradual easing of the chip shortage, the automobile supply capacity will be further released. With the gradual functioning of the chip market regulation mechanism and the joint efforts of the government, host manufacturers and chip suppliers, the supply shortage is gradually alleviated. At that time, the release of automobile supply capacity will become a positive factor for the growth of automobile market in 2022.
Meanwhile, Fu Bingfeng said that the strong demand in the new energy vehicle market will further promote the stable growth of automobile consumption. In the medium and long term, the support of intelligent connected vehicle technology and the innovation of business model will greatly promote the popularization of new energy vehicles, especially the implementation of the "double carbon" goal, and accelerate the progress of transformation. The planned goal of the proportion of new energy vehicles by 2025 is likely to be achieved ahead of schedule, which will effectively support the growth of China's automobile market in 2022.
