The Euler developer conference held from April 13 to 15 disclosed the latest progress of Huawei’s “soul casting project”.

Huawei hopes to build an operating system covering all scenarios through Euler and Hongmeng, and all open source, so as to involve the industry and jointly remove the word “less” without core and soul. On November 9, 2021, the Euler open source operating system project was officially donated to the open atom open source foundation, moving towards industrial co construction and community autonomy.
After the donation, the community quickly gathered mainstream manufacturers at home and abroad in the whole industrial chain and ushered in rapid development. Openeuler has more than 470000 downloads worldwide, and the cumulative installed capacity of Euler series products has exceeded 1.3 million sets, ranking first in the new market share in the government and operator industries.

At the meeting, Euler’s first long-term version of digital infrastructure, openeuler 22.03 LTS, was officially released. This is the first community co construction version after Euler’s donation and the first long-term version supporting the whole scene of digital infrastructure.
This version adopts the unified Linux kernel 5.10 kernel, integrates the commercially verified features in the first three innovative versions of the community, constructs the distributed soft bus capability, and realizes the self discovery and self connectivity of Euler and Euler devices, and the self discovery of Euler and Hongmeng devices, that is, the devices equipped with Euler operating system can automatically identify and connect Hongmeng terminals.
Jiang Dayong told Shanghai Securities News that as the two operating systems that Huawei focuses on building, Hongmeng operating system will be terminal oriented, while Euler operating system will be more applied to servers, cloud, edge computing and embedded devices. In the field of embedded industry, Euler and Hongmeng will overlap to a certain extent, Euler will focus more on scenes with high requirements such as reliability and delay, and Hongmeng will focus more on interaction, Huawei hopes to achieve full digital scene coverage at the operating system level through olaga Hongmeng.
Global mainstream operating system manufacturers have launched commercial distributions based on Euler. With the release of openeuler 22.03 LTS, partners such as Kirin software, Tongxin software, Kirin Xin’an, SUSE, hyperfusion, Xinhua III, Thunder Software Technology Co.Ltd(300496) , Kedong software, etc. also announced that they would soon launch a commercial release based on openeuler 22.03 lts to apply the achievements of community innovation to all walks of life and turn them into the driving force for the development of digital economy.

According to the Research Report on China’s server operating system market released by CCID Consulting, in 2021, the overall installed capacity of Euler series products achieved the first new market share in the government and operator industries, and the first market growth in the financial industry.

Jiang Dayong said that the initial goal of Euler’s installed capacity in 2022 is to add 2 million units. In the future, there will be faster growth and breakthrough. He pointed out that the total installed demand of server operating systems in China is about 3 million to 4 million sets a year.
Jiang Dayong quoted IDC’s report to predict that China’s server market will achieve a compound annual growth of more than 26% in the next five years. I believe Euler will achieve faster growth and more breakthroughs.
