Guangzhou Nansha builds the whole industrial chain of Commercial Aerospace

“The China Science and Technology aerospace flight science and technology industrialization base project (hereinafter referred to as” China Science and technology base “) is planned to be completed and put into trial operation in August 2022. The base mainly focuses on the mass production, test, final assembly test and launch of launch vehicles.” Hu Xiaowei, general manager of Zhongke Aerospace (Guangzhou) equipment industry Co., Ltd., told reporters on the 10th that after the completion of the base, it will help Guangzhou and its surrounding areas form a gathering highland of commercial aerospace in Guangdong Province and create a new growth pole of China’s commercial aerospace.

In Dagang advanced manufacturing base in Nansha District, Guangzhou, the China Science and technology base with a total investment of about 390 million yuan has been fully capped, and an industrial closed loop from satellite and rocket manufacturing to launch service, measurement and control operation and satellite application is taking shape.

According to the Nansha District government, as China’s first commercial aerospace industry base in the whole industry chain, after its completion, China Science and technology base can produce 30 solid launch vehicles a year, which will boost and focus on high-end equipment manufacturing resources such as launch vehicle development, aerospace power and satellite development, and Aerospace Enterprises related to upstream and downstream measurement and control operation and maintenance, launch services and key components will land in Nansha.

“China Science and technology base mainly carries out the development, production, test, final assembly and test of series solid and liquid launch vehicles.” Hu Xiaowei revealed that after the base is completed, it can achieve an annual output of 30 launch vehicles. “These rockets will provide a powerful tool for China’s commercial space satellite launch, especially the launch mission of low orbit medium and large constellations.”

“The aerospace industry needs strong product support and rich high-tech talents. The high-end equipment manufacturing industry in Nansha and even Guangdong is developed, especially in communication electronics and software. This has created an opportunity for the manufacturing development of commercial aerospace in Guangdong and can form a strong support for our subsequent research and development.” Hu Xiaowei told reporters that the reason why he chose to establish a commercial aerospace industry base in Nansha was mainly due to the coastal area of Nansha. Launching commercial rockets at sea has certain advantages; At the same time, there are complete industries near Nansha, which is conducive to the rapid formation of the upstream and downstream industrial chain of commercial aerospace.

The relevant person in charge of Nansha District government said that at present, the district is taking the China Science and technology base as the leader and supported by scientific and technological infrastructure such as hypersonic wind tunnel, making every effort to build an Aerospace Industrial Park and coordinating with Nansha Science City to layout the deep space field.

As the main bearing area of Dawan District National Science and technology innovation center, Nansha has gathered major science and technology innovation platforms such as Nansha Science City, pearl Science Park, southern marine science and engineering Guangdong Provincial Laboratory (Guangzhou).

Among them, Guangdong Aerospace Science and Technology Research Institute of the Institute of mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is located in Nansha Pearl Science Park, is jointly built by Guangzhou, Nansha District and the Institute of mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is planned to become a world-class R & D institution in the field of Aerospace Science and technology. The first phase of the South Center established by the Institute has a planned construction area of 60000 square meters and a total investment of 420 million yuan. It is planned to be put into use in July 2022.

The reporter learned from the Nansha District government that in recent years, Nansha has been planning to take major scientific and technological infrastructure as the cutting-edge research strategic support, build a national scientific research base, promote the pre research projects of large scientific devices such as hypersonic wind tunnel, cold spring system, human cell lineage and extreme marine scientific research facilities, and create a global highland of scientific and technological innovation.

Located in the Pearl Science Park of Nansha Science City, the four major projects of hypersonic wind tunnel, cold spring system, human cell lineage and extreme marine scientific research facilities are major scientific and technological infrastructure launched by Guangzhou in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Guangzhou’s steps towards the frontier fields of science and technology such as deep sea, deep earth and deep space.

“Now Nansha is taking the China Science and technology base as the leader and the high-speed wind tunnel and other scientific and technological infrastructure as the support, making every effort to build an Aerospace Industrial Park, coordinating with Nansha Science City to layout the ‘deep space’ field and build the main bearing area of the international scientific and technological Innovation Center in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Dawan district. We can use these scientific and technological infrastructure to do experiments and then transform achievements in the industrial park.” Hu Xiaowei also mentioned that “the launch vehicle under development has a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons, reduces costs through technology and supply chain optimization, and has great market competitiveness.”

“The China Science and technology base will make up for the shortcomings of the rocket launch system and complement the existing industries. It will drive relevant aerospace enterprises to settle in Guangzhou and promote the construction of China’s’ Southern Aerospace City ‘in Nansha.” Hu Xiaowei said.
