China’s cloud computing market report released by Canalys, the International Analytical agency, released in 2021 showed that China’s cloud infrastructure market has reached 27 billion 400 million US dollars, and China’s four cloud, composed of Ali cloud, HUAWEI cloud, Tencent cloud and Baidu intelligent cloud, occupies 80% of China’s cloud computing market and takes a leading position.
In recent years, China has made great achievements in the construction of digital economy. As an important part of the new infrastructure, the market space of cloud computing will be larger and larger, the pace of technological innovation and industrial development will be accelerated, and the service mode will be more diversified. With the gradual advancement of cloud network integration and cloud edge collaboration, the application breadth and depth of cloud computing continue to expand, which will play an important role in promoting the quality change, efficiency change and power change of economic development.
rapid development
China’s cloud computing industry has grown at an annual rate of more than 30% in recent years, making it one of the fastest growing markets in the world. Especially since the outbreak of covid-19 pneumonia, the demand for telecommuting, online education and online conference has increased explosively, further promoting the rapid development of cloud computing market. According to the latest report released by AI media consulting, the scale of China’s cloud computing market has exceeded 230 billion yuan in 2021 and is expected to exceed 300 billion yuan in 2023.
“After more than ten years of development, cloud computing has entered a new stage of active innovation, wide popularization and prosperous application.” Jia Zijun, deputy director of the information and Software Institute of China Electronic Information Industry Development Research Institute, introduced that the cloud computing industrial structure has been continuously optimized, and the industrial chain covering consulting, design, deployment, operation and maintenance has been gradually completed. China has cultivated a number of backbone enterprises with global influence, such as Alibaba, Huawei, Tencent and Baidu.
Cloud computing technology is developing rapidly. At present, China’s cloud computing backbone enterprises have made breakthroughs in key core technologies such as large-scale concurrent processing, Beijing Vastdata Technology Co.Ltd(603138) storage and emerging fields such as containers and micro services, and some indicators have reached the international advanced level. For example, 12306 railway ticket website shares the query business to the cloud through hybrid cloud deployment, which supports the query demand of up to 400000 times per second during the Spring Festival transportation while ensuring the security of local data.
Cloud computing application scenarios continue to expand. With the wide popularity of government cloud, financial cloud, energy cloud and transportation cloud, the proportion and application depth of government and enterprises on the cloud have increased significantly. For example, in the field of government affairs, more than 90% of provincial administrative regions and 70% of prefecture and municipal administrative regions have built or are building government cloud platforms.
“At present, cloud computing has become a way for most application software to provide software services, and cloud computing services are also changing from the basic data center services in the past to the service mode of exporting solutions. In addition, the willingness of individual users to pay has increased among Chinese cloud computing users, and private cloud space is becoming more and more important to individuals.” Pan Helin, CO director of the digital economy and financial innovation research center of the International United Business School of Zhejiang University, said.
enterprises with their own characteristics
It is an inevitable trend for enterprises to go to the cloud in the future. Hybrid cloud and multi cloud have become an important starting point for enterprise digital transformation. Yang Yirui, senior consultant of Zhongcheng think tank, believes that in the post epidemic era, online office, remote collaboration and other services are popularized. In addition, with the launch of the new infrastructure “East data and West computing” project, the acceptance of cloud business by enterprise users has been improved.
It is understood that at present, the “four clouds” focus on different areas. Jia Zijun introduced that Alibaba cloud started first in China. At first, it was mainly used in Alibaba’s e-commerce platform. In recent years, it has continuously launched and upgraded a variety of self-developed products and technologies, and has established a complete Cloud Architecture from the underlying data center to the upper product solutions. Huawei cloud has the ability of software and hardware integration and delivery, always maintains a leading position in the field of government cloud and private cloud, and continues to expand the customer base of Internet enterprises. Based on its business accumulation and experience in social networking, games, video and finance, Tencent cloud is mainly engaged in audio and video live broadcasting, entertainment and game industries, and ranks in the forefront of the financial cloud market. Baidu cloud combines AI technology with cloud infrastructure services, focuses on intelligent services, highlights differentiation, and actively practices in manufacturing, finance, energy and other fields based on “cloud intelligence integration” technologies and products.
“At present, the cloud computing development model with different emphasis makes each segment have leading computing power supply.” Pan Helin said. In the financial field, Qiu yuepeng, vice president of Tencent, chief operating officer of cloud and smart industry business group and President of Tencent cloud, introduced that Tencent cloud enterprise level distributed database tdsql has served nearly half of China’s top 20 banks. In the field of energy, Li Qiang, vice president of Tencent and President of Tencent smart industry and service industry, introduced that Tencent gave full play to its digital twinning ability and digital connection ability, cooperated with enterprises in the energy industry to jointly create multi scenario carbon neutralization solutions, and helped more enterprises improve the quality and efficiency of the whole link.
In the industrial field, Baidu Intelligent Cloud opening industry internet has been developed and landed in Guiyang, Chongqing, Tongxiang, Suzhou and other 10 regions. In terms of industrial quality inspection, Baidu Intelligent Cloud market share is the first. It has established cooperation with more than 300 enterprises in automobile, equipment manufacturing, steel and other 18 industries, including Geely, Hengyi chemical fiber, Sany Heavy Industry Co.Ltd(600031) and other industries.
fierce market competition
Yang Yirui believes that at present, the supply difference of cloud services is small, the supervision is more and more standardized, the industry accelerates the “internal roll”, and the market competition will be more intense in the future.
Not satisfied with the existing market, leading enterprises are trying to expand their advantageous fields. According to Qiu yuepeng, over the past three years, Tencent has invested more than 120 billion yuan in R & D and continued to build a complete self-research system including chips, servers, operating systems and databases. In 2021, Tencent conference, enterprise wechat and Tencent documents were officially integrated. On this basis, Tencent cloud helps many users in government affairs, finance, industry, energy, retail and other fields to go to the cloud and accelerate the digital transformation.
Huawei cloud, which has always maintained a leading position in the government market, released the “cloud collaboration” strategy in 2021, further expanding its competitive advantage for users in the Internet field. So far, Huawei cloud has launched more than 220 cloud services and 210 solutions, gathered more than 30000 partners around the world, developed 2.6 million developers, and put more than 6100 applications on the cloud market. In China, Huawei cloud has served more than 600 government clouds and more than 140 industrial clouds, helping more than 35 cities upgrade government clouds to native clouds. Canalys report pointed out that in 2021, huaweiyun’s market share in China reached 18%, with an annual increase of 67%.
“The market pattern of cloud computing is undergoing profound changes. In addition to the ‘four clouds’, telecom operators, Jinshan and other cloud service providers are also increasing investment to promote increasingly fierce market competition.” Jia Zijun said.
For example, based on JD’s digital intelligent social supply chain, JD cloud, which “understands industry better”, has carried out in-depth Digital Practice in retail, logistics, urban, finance, energy, transportation, automobile and other industries. At present, JD cloud has provided industrial digital upgrading services for BAIC, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science And Technology Co.Ltd(000157) , Sany Heavy Industry Co.Ltd(600031) and more than 1500 large enterprises and more than 1.52 million small, medium and micro enterprises.
“At present, the supply capacity of cloud computing technology products and services is still insufficient, solutions for specific industries are still limited, cross cloud platform application migration lacks effective solutions, and the differentiated and personalized needs of enterprises cannot be effectively met.” Jia Zijun believes that we should support cloud service providers, software manufacturers and industry enterprises to strengthen the connection between supply and demand, promote the migration of more information systems to cloud platforms, popularize and deepen cloud computing applications, and effectively improve the development level and comprehensive competitiveness of enterprises.
“We should continue to increase relevant R & D investment and solve the personalized needs of cloud enterprises with technological innovation.” Yang Yirui said.
