German chancellor: will stop importing Russian oil within this year

It was reported on April 8 that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Friday that Germany may stop importing Russian oil this year. "We are trying to get rid of importing (Russian) oil. We think we will achieve this goal this year," Scholtz said at a news conference with British Prime Minister Johnson in London

"We are trying to get rid of the need to import natural gas from Russia," Scholtz said, Reuters reported. It is understood that at present, Russian oil accounts for 25% of Germany's total imports, lower than 35% before the escalation of the situation between Russia and Ukraine; The proportion of Russian natural gas in total imports fell from 55% to 40%; The proportion of Russian hard coal imports fell from 50% to 25%.

In the new round of EU sanctions against Russia, the Allies reached an agreement on banning the import of Russian coal from August, but there are still differences on whether to launch sanctions against Russian oil and gas.
