On the morning of April 7, Guangdong provincial health publicity and education center and the school of health management of Southern Medical University launched the pilot project of improving the health and nutrition of the elderly in Guangdong Province (phase II) in Sanxi town health center of Lechang City, Shaoguan.
The second phase of the project is to carry out the "Guangdong elderly health management and health literacy improvement project and health behavior prospective cohort survey" for elderly residents over 60 years old. The first follow-up survey of the cohort needs to be completed at this stage. The data includes physical examination data of the elderly in basic public health services + questionnaire survey data + interview observation data. The content includes the basic information, illness, behavior and lifestyle, psychological status and daily activity ability of the elderly, and is committed to caring for the physical and mental health of the elderly. In addition, the investigators will conduct in-depth exchanges with the local elderly, seriously disseminate health knowledge and skills, help the elderly understand their personal health status and establish a correct concept of health.
It is understood that in June 2021, Guangdong Province launched the pilot project to improve the health literacy of the elderly. Sanxi town and Wushan town of Shaoguan City, Qingxi Town of Dongguan City and Gongguan town of Maonan District of Maoming City were listed as the project sites. The project targets the elderly aged 60 and above. The project is divided into four stages. The project aims to better implement the spirit of the "healthy Guangdong 2030" plan and the opinions on the implementation of healthy Guangdong action, effectively promote health knowledge popularization and elderly health promotion, and explore strategies and methods to improve the health literacy level of the elderly.
The launch of the second phase of the project has laid a good foundation for the next step to select the pilot, create a health management and health promotion model, and start the implementation of the intervention program. In the next project implementation process, Lechang Health Bureau will work closely with relevant provincial and municipal departments, cooperate with various parties, constantly strengthen health education management, carry out group detection and intervention for the elderly, summarize exploration experience, highlight the effectiveness of the project, and help to build a strong public health system and ensure people's health in an all-round and all-round way.
