Large ship group signed a new order for 2 + 2175000 m3 LNG ships

Recently, China Merchants Energy Shipping Co.Ltd(601872) under China Cssc Holdings Limited(600150) group and China Shipping Trade and China Merchants Group signed the construction contract of 2 + 2175000 cubic meters liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ships in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing and Dalian by means of “cloud signing”.

According to China Merchants Energy Shipping Co.Ltd(601872) announcement, the total price of this construction contract is about 780 million US dollars, including two signed 175000 m3 LNG carriers, with a total price of 380 million US dollars; And the buyer’s option order for two 175000 m3 LNG transport ships (the buyer has the right to choose whether to order the agreed ship at the agreed price within a certain period of time), with a shipbuilding price of US $200 million each. The delivery dates of the two contracted ships are the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026 respectively.

It is reported that the ship type is independently developed by the large ship group. The ship has a total length of 295 meters, a width of 46.4 meters, a depth of 26.2 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, a design service speed of 19.5 knots and a total cargo hold capacity of 175000 cubic meters. The ship has achieved a comprehensive balance in economy, flexibility and compatibility. It can dock at most large LNG shore stations in the world, and has excellent port suitability and ship shore compatibility.

China Merchants Energy Shipping Co.Ltd(601872) said that the LNG ship ordered by the company this time will be equipped with the latest LNG dual fuel low-speed main engine and equipped with energy-saving and environmental protection systems such as air lubrication. The fuel and gas modes can meet the latest stringent emission standards of the international maritime organization, which will further reduce the fuel and gas consumption of the main engine. The basic design of ship type development has been completed and approved by Lloyd’s register of shipping and China Classification Society in principle (AIP).
