On April 3, it was reported that the second plant of South Korean Green Food Enterprise pumido in Pinggu District of Beijing was completed and officially put into operation.
The person in charge of the plant said that since the end of 2020, the company has invested 30 billion won (about 160 million yuan) in one year and three months to build a second plant with a total area of 12146 square meters. He explained that at first, tofu was produced in the same factory with dumplings, pasta and other foods, but with the rapid growth of consumers' demand for tofu products, the company decided to set up a new factory.
Pumido was first established as a legal person in China in 2010. In 2012, pumido built its own factory in Beijing and built a national cold chain logistics system to provide tofu, pickles, pasta and other products to Chinese consumers. The company's turnover has increased by more than 100% annually since 2018 and will be profitable since 2020.
