Apple launches $50 million supplier employee development fund

On March 30, Apple announced the launch of a $50 million supplier employee development fund to bring more opportunities for supplier employees to learn and develop skills. Apple said that the new education program will provide training and courses for employees of global suppliers, and will be first launched in the markets of the United States, China, India and Vietnam. By the end of 2023, apple expects more than 100000 supplier employees to participate in new learning opportunities, including leadership training, technology certification, and courses in programming, Siasun Robot&Automation Co.Ltd(300024) , Fundamentals of advanced manufacturing (including green manufacturing).

Ge yue, vice president of apple and managing director of Greater China, said in an interview with China Securities Journal and other media reporters that Chinese supplier enterprises play a very important role in Apple’s global supply chain, and apple has also made a lot of investment. Many projects are started from Chinese suppliers, reflecting Apple’s attention to the Chinese market.

Apple said that since 2008, Apple has provided various education and skill training programs combining Wuxi Online Offline Communication Information Technology Co.Ltd(300959) with Wuxi Online Offline Communication Information Technology Co.Ltd(300959) , providing opportunities for workers in the supply chain to learn new technologies and management skills. Apple’s supply chain employee education program has benefited 5 million people. Foxconn is a contract manufacturer of Apple products, and some Foxconn employees have also participated in relevant skill training programs of apple. Zhou Xue, a “Post-00” employee of Foxconn Chengdu factory, is one of them. Zhou Xue told China Securities Journal that she graduated from Sichuan Institute of engineering and technology in 2021 and then entered Foxconn Chengdu factory as an ordinary technician. Last year, she participated in swift programming training organized by the factory, a training program supported by apple for workers in supplier factories. Zhou Xue took this opportunity to learn programming knowledge and developed and launched the app herself. At present, she has been transferred to the automation Internet Engineering Department of the factory.

Apple also released its 16th annual report on people and the environment in the supply chain on March 30, which describes the support of apple and its suppliers to the company’s supply chain employees, the transformation to clean energy, and investment in cutting-edge technology.
