Gotion High-Tech Co.Ltd(002074) Li Zhen: the shortage of lithium resources in China will end in 2025

Beijing News, shell finance and Economics (Reporter Lin Zi) on March 26, at the China electric vehicle 100 people’s meeting, Gotion High-Tech Co.Ltd(002074) party secretary and chairman Li Zhen pointed out that the world’s lithium is in Yichun and the shortage of lithium resources will end in 2025.

Li Zhen said that in 2021, the price of lithium carbonate in China rose from 50000 yuan / ton at the beginning of the year to 500000 yuan / ton at the end of the year. In 2021, the Chinese people will consume 300000 tons of lithium resources. In that year, China will import and produce about 330000 tons of lithium resources. It is estimated that by 2025, China’s total demand for lithium carbonate will reach Shanghai Pudong Development Bank Co.Ltd(600000) tons.

From 2021 to 2025, with the further rapid growth of Yichun lithium mica project, the improvement of lithium extraction technology from Qinghai brine, the exploitation of spodumene resources in Sichuan and the progress of battery recovery technology, the demand for imported lithium resources will be greatly reduced. In 2025, Yichun will form a lithium development project with an annual output of 500000 tons, which will completely end China’s lithium shortage.

“Chinese people’s energy jobs must be in their own hands,” Li Zhen said. Promoting the rapid growth of new energy industry has also brought the rapid growth of our battery industry. In order to cope with the rising demand, all raw material manufacturers in China are actively expanding their production, and the supply is also increasing rapidly. “No matter from the perspective of cathode materials, ternary cathode, iron lithium cathode or cathode materials, with the continuous progress of our technology and the continuous enhancement of mining capacity, the supply will far exceed the demand”.

He also pointed out that battery recycling will also end the unlimited demand of the new energy industry for the earth’s resources. He said that when the total demand for raw materials for battery manufacturing and the total supply of materials provided by recycled batteries reach a balance, mankind will no longer need to ask for unlimited battery manufacturing resources from nature. “We think this time will basically come in 2040”.
