Daily chart of the medical industry: from January to February 2022, the global medical financing heat has decreased, but it is still significantly stronger than the same period in 2020

From January to February 2022, the financing heat of the global biomedical industry fell. According to vbdata (arterial orange) data, from January to February 2022, 180 financing events (excluding IPO and private placement) occurred in the global biomedical field, with a financing amount of about US $7.59 billion, down 9% year-on-year. We believe that some of them were affected by the poor performance of the global stock market and the intensification of geopolitical risks. However, compared with the financing amount from January to February 2020 (US $3.51 billion, when overseas was less affected by the epidemic), there is still a significant increase, reflecting that primary investors are still optimistic about the development of biomedical sector in the long term. In addition, in February 2022, seed round and round a financing accounted for 55% of the total number of events, which further increased month on month, indicating that more emerging companies have entered the field of biomedicine. Based on these data, we believe that for China’s leading CXO companies with large global business exposure (such as Wuxi Apptec Co.Ltd(603259) , Yaoming Biology), the industry boom remains at a high level, with sufficient orders, so there is no need to worry too much about the slowdown of short-term investment and financing.

The financing heat in the field of digital health and equipment consumables has increased slightly. The financing amount of global digital health from January to February reached US $4.47 billion, an increase of 6% year-on-year, also significantly higher than that from January to February 2020 (US $2.34 billion). The financing amount of equipment consumables from January to February reached US $3.08 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 14%, driven in part by the active financing in IVD and low value consumables segments.
