Safe: by the end of 2021, the net external liabilities of Bank Of China Limited(601988) industry amounted to 37.9 billion US dollars

On the 24th, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released the data of external financial assets and liabilities of Bank Of China Limited(601988) industry at the end of 2021.

At the end of 2021, Bank Of China Limited(601988) industry had external financial assets of US $1531 billion, external liabilities of US $1568.9 billion and net external liabilities of US $37.9 billion, including RMB net liabilities of US $462.5 billion and foreign currency net assets of US $424.6 billion.

Among the external financial assets of the banking industry, by instrument, deposit and loan assets are US $1110.1 billion, bond assets are US $225.1 billion, equity and other assets are US $1958 billion, accounting for 73%, 15% and 13% of the external financial assets of the banking industry respectively. In terms of currency, RMB assets are US $230.4 billion, US $1015.2 billion and other currency assets are US $285.5 billion, accounting for 15%, 66% and 19% respectively. From the perspective of investment departments, investment in overseas banking departments amounted to 845 billion US dollars, accounting for 55%; US $686.1 billion was invested in overseas non banking sectors, accounting for 45%.

Among the external liabilities of the banking industry, by instrument, deposit and loan liabilities are US $852.7 billion, bond liabilities are US $322.8 billion, equity and other liabilities are US $393.4 billion, accounting for 54%, 21% and 25% of the external liabilities of the banking industry respectively. In terms of currency, RMB liabilities are US $692.9 billion, US $563.1 billion and other currency liabilities are US $313 billion, accounting for 44%, 36% and 20% respectively. From the perspective of source departments, US $619.6 billion came from overseas banking departments, accounting for 39%; US $949.4 billion from overseas non banking sectors, accounting for 61%.
