China’s first subway Beidou Positioning System will provide positioning, navigation and timing services

Today, the construction of China’s first subway Beidou Positioning System started on the Beijing Metro capital airport line, which is currently the largest indoor space navigation and positioning system in China. It is expected to be completed within this year.

The subway Beidou Positioning System started this time covers 30 kilometers of Beijing Metro capital airport line and 5 stations. It is an important supporting demonstration project of the national key research and development plan “key technologies for efficient transportation and safety service of super urban rail transit system”.

Beidou satellite navigation system can provide positioning, navigation and timing services. It is an important space infrastructure in China. However, in non exposed spaces such as underground, underwater and buildings, satellite signals cannot be directly received and used due to shielding, which is an urgent field for navigation and positioning applications.

It is understood that the subway Beidou Positioning System will improve the positioning accuracy of the underground space of the subway station to better than 2m. It can not only be used for vehicle scheduling, passenger transport organization, emergency disposal, etc. at the same time, passengers can use mobile phone map to realize the navigation and positioning of complex space in the subway station through three-dimensional navigation. The construction of the system will play an important role in accelerating the intelligent service and maintenance of urban rail transit, improving user experience, improving operation efficiency and reducing management cost.
