On March 18, the world’s largest free trade agreement, the regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement (RCEP), officially entered into force for Malaysia. On the first day of entry into force, Hangzhou Customs was subordinate to Yiwu customs and issued the first certificate of origin of Zhejiang Province exported to Malaysia under RCEP.

The certificate was applied for by Yiwu Huxi Trading Co., Ltd. the goods are a batch of holiday supplies, fabric products and cotton clothing. It is expected to enjoy tariff preference of more than 1200 yuan in Malaysia. “After RCEP came into force for Malaysia, most of our small commodities exported to Malaysia are related to tax preference, and the tariff of some products is immediately reduced to zero, which is very helpful to improve the international competitiveness of our export products.” Liu Huiyao, head of the company, said.

According to the RCEP tariff concession arrangement, the import tariff rate of plastic products of Chinese origin in Japan will be reduced to zero tariff year by year from 2.8% – 5.2% before the entry into force of the agreement, which will bring tangible benefits to the export of plastic products in Taizhou. Taizhou Senli Plastic Co., Ltd. is a plastic daily necessities production and export enterprise with an annual export volume of more than 120 million yuan. More than 60% of the plastic daily necessities such as gardening flowerpots and storage boxes are sold to Japan. “Since the entry into force of the agreement, our export products can immediately enjoy tariff preferences in Japan, which not only brings benefits to customers, but also promotes the export of our products.” Yang Huijun, the person in charge of the company, said. In the first two months, the company handled 30 RCEP certificates of origin exported to Japan, involving a value of nearly 13 million yuan.

From January to February this year, Hangzhou Customs issued 4566 RCEP certificates of origin, with a visa amount of 1.32 billion yuan, providing nearly 13 million yuan of tariff concessions for foreign trade enterprises abroad.
