Digging soil, putting saplings and filling pits… On March 12, Heyue primary school in Xiuquan street, Huadu District, Guangzhou (hereinafter referred to as “Heyue primary school”) carried out the activity of “home school co education and planting family trees”, organized students to plant small saplings next to the extracurricular planting practice base, experienced the fun of planting and improved students’ labor quality.
Lu Changbo, principal of Heyue primary school, introduced that in order to strengthen labor education, the school has opened up a nearly 3 mu extracurricular planting practice base in Qishan village. While reducing students’ homework burden, the school has strengthened students’ extracurricular practice activities, focused on “reducing burden and improving quality”, further strengthened home school cooperation and promoted the joint construction of education in the region.
Extracurricular planting practice base is not only a place for schools to carry out students’ practical activities, but also a paradise for students’ families to “parent-child labor” on weekends. Each class in the base has a “plantation”, which is planted with Zhejiang Sunflower Great Health Limited Liability Company(300111) , cucumber, tomato and other vegetables, flowers and fruits. Every weekend, students and parents come to the base to work together.
“The spinach and cabbage planted by the children are very crisp and sweet! We also collected a lot of cabbage seeds and prepared to pack them into small bags for the children to share with their families and let more people eat delicious cabbage.” Fan Wei, the parent of Wang Minyu, a sophomore, said happily that the children participated in the whole process, from sowing, watering and picking to cooking and putting on the table.
“At the beginning, students were not familiar with all kinds of vegetables. Therefore, the school specially opened a publicity column of popular science knowledge in the plantation to introduce the types of vegetables in detail.” Lu Changbo introduced that in the planting process, experienced parents will participate and work with their children, which not only improves the parent-child relationship, but also strengthens the home school cooperation. At the same time, it allows students to exercise their practical ability and increase social knowledge in labor practice.
