Recently, the “digital economy and Management Innovation Summit Forum and Guangdong Digital Economy Innovation and development report conference” was held at Guangzhou University. The report points out that the digital product manufacturing industry is the industry with the highest level of digital economy innovation and the most concentrated enterprises in Guangdong Province; The overall innovation level of the core area of the Pearl River Delta (9 cities in Dawan District) is in the forefront of the province, and the overall innovation level of 5 cities in the northern ecological area (except for the digital factor driven industry) is higher than that of 7 cities in the East and West wings of the coastal economic belt.
The forum is guided by Guangdong Provincial Department of science and technology and Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of science and technology, hosted by Guangzhou University, undertaken by the school of management and Digital Management Innovation Institute of Guangzhou University, and co organized by Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Economic and cultural exchange center and Guangdong Provincial economists and Entrepreneurs Association. At the forum, Professor Sun Yanming, vice president of Guangzhou University, pointed out that the “cross innovation platform of digital economy and digital culture”, as one of the “2 + 5” platforms, carried out corresponding research around industrial digitization and digital industrialization in the era of digital economy, and looked forward to strengthening scientific and technological innovation and collaborative innovation between industry, University and research, Further refine the discipline direction and characteristics of regional digital economy and intelligent management.
At the press conference, Professor Xue Xiaolong, Dean of the school of management of Guangzhou University, released the Guangdong Digital Economy Innovation and development report on behalf of the digital economy innovation and development research team of the University. He said that the Guangdong Digital Economy Innovation and development report innovatively adopts big data thinking and analysis technology that uses enterprise micro data to reflect the development trend of digital economy macro system, and tries to describe the innovation and development trend of digital economy in Guangdong Province in a panoramic way.
During the development of the report, the digital economy innovation and development research team of Guangzhou University, referring to the statistical classification of digital economy and its core industries (2021) published by the National Bureau of statistics in June 2021, selected more than 40000 high-tech enterprises and scientific and technological small and medium-sized enterprises in Guangdong Province as data collection objects, and collected more than 2 million valid patent data from 2016 to 2020, This paper evaluates and calculates the industrial innovation level of 196 sub categories in 32 of the five major categories of digital economy, and analyzes the development trend of digital economy in Guangdong Province from the multi-dimensional panoramic description of the whole province, “one core, one belt and one district”, 21 cities, 179 districts and counties, various industry categories of digital economy and different types of enterprises.
The report attempts to construct and calculate the digital economy innovation index of Guangdong Province for the first time. It is found that the digital economy innovation activities in Guangdong Province are mainly concentrated in the digital product manufacturing industry and the digital technology application industry; Digital product manufacturing industry is the industry with the highest level of digital economy innovation and the most concentrated enterprises in Guangdong Province. The overall innovation level of the core area of the Pearl River Delta (9 cities in Dawan District) is in the forefront of the province, and the overall innovation level of 5 cities in the northern ecological area (except for the digital factor driven industry) is higher than that of 7 cities in the East and West wings of the coastal economic belt. From the perspective of the whole province, except that the innovation level of digital product manufacturing industry varies greatly among regions and 9 cities in Dawan district take the lead in the application industry of digital technology, there are no obvious differences in the overall innovation level of digital efficiency improvement industry, digital factor driven industry and digital product service industry.
