Surging news learned from State Power Investment Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as state power investment) that the company’s Jingmen Lvdong power plant has recently realized 15% hydrogen mixing combustion transformation and operation of the gas turbine, and the unit has the compatibility of pure natural gas and natural gas hydrogen mixing operation modes.
It is reported that this is the first time that China has implemented hydrogen blending combustion transformation test and scientific research on heavy gas turbine commercial units. It is also the first demonstration project of combined cycle and cogeneration for hydrogen blending combustion in natural gas commercial units in the world. On December 26, the transformed unit accepted the power grid dispatching and was officially put into operation. The feasibility of the overall scheme was verified, indicating that China has mastered a complete set of design scheme for hydrogen mixing transformation project of gas turbine electromechanical station, and accumulated experience for accelerating the development and operation of China’s independent hydrogen gas turbine.
Adding hydrogen fuel source to the active natural gas unit can not only effectively alleviate the natural gas consumption and ensure the safety and stability of heating in winter, but also have the effect of carbon reduction. When only a 54 MW gas turbine in Jingmen is mixed with hydrogen by 30%, it can reduce the carbon dioxide emission by more than 18000 tons per year. In addition, hydrogen gas turbine can resolve the development resistance of gas turbine industry caused by China’s natural gas shortage, which is conducive to promoting the upgrading of gas turbine high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
In June this year, Beijing heavy duty gas turbine technology research Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Beijing heavy duty gas turbine) affiliated to the State Power Investment Corporation, aiming at the commanding height of the development of international gas turbine industry, deployed the technological innovation and demonstration application of hydrogen mixed gas turbine in advance, and officially launched the 30% hydrogen mixed gas turbine test demonstration project. As the lead party, with the cooperation of siemens energy and Yingde gas, Beijing reburning Co., Ltd. coordinated the research on professional advantageous resources of many units such as Shanghai Complete Equipment Institute of state power investment group and Shanghai Shunhua, put forward and organized the implementation of the whole process scheme from the transformation of gas turbine body, the construction of hydrogen mixing station in power plant to off-site hydrogen supply. The project is planned to be divided into two phases: the first phase is to carry out 15% hydrogen blending combustion by the end of December 2021; Phase II will carry out 30% hydrogen blending combustion at the end of 2022. At that time, the unit will have the flexibility of free switching under the condition of 0% ~ 30% hydrogen blending operation.
The State Power Investment Group has realized that the installed capacity of clean energy accounts for more than 60% of the total installed capacity of power generation. Its total installed capacity of photovoltaic power ranks first in the world and that of wind power ranks second in the world. The R & D work of national major science and technology special heavy gas turbine undertaken by the company is also accelerating, and is committed to building a new ecological energy development model of “wind power hydrogen electric heating”.
