As the European energy crisis intensifies, the Russian European natural gas pipeline is “countercurrent” for the sixth consecutive day

According to data from GASCADE, a German gas pipeline operator, as of Sunday, the “Yamal Europe” pipeline, which usually transports Russian natural gas to Western Europe, had reversed the fuel to Poland for the sixth consecutive day.

“Yamal Europe” pipeline has a total length of more than 4000 kilometers, extending from northwest Siberia, Russia to eastern Germany, passing through Belarus and Poland. This pipeline usually transports gas from Poland to Germany, and since the 21st, it has been transferred from Germany to Poland.

Data show that on Sunday, at the mallnow metering point on the border between Germany and Poland, natural gas was transported eastward to Poland at a speed of nearly 1.2 million kwh / h.

Relevant auction results show that Gazprom, Europe’s largest natural gas supplier, did not make an appointment to export natural gas through the “Yamal Europe” pipeline on Monday (December 27).

GASCADE is a subsidiary of wiga, a joint venture of windershall DEA, a Russian gas and oil and gas company.

“Yamal Europe” natural gas pipeline has been “countercurrent” for several consecutive days, which coincides with the escalation of tensions between Russia and Western countries due to the Ukrainian issue. However, Russia said that this was not politically motivated.

Russia argues that it has been preparing more gas supply

Russian gas spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said on Saturday that it is groundless to accuse Russian gas of not providing enough natural gas to Europe, which is inconsistent with the facts. Some Russian gas buyers, especially Germany and France, did not place additional orders, and all the problems in Europe were caused by themselves. He also said that Gazprom has been ready to supply more natural gas to Europe according to the existing long-term contract, and the price is significantly lower than the spot price.

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Germany of suffering on Thursday. He said Germany would resell Russian natural gas to Poland and Ukraine without alleviating the overheated market. He blamed German gas importers for the “countercurrent” of natural gas pipelines and soaring prices.

Putin also called on the EU to approve Russia’s pipeline project “beixi-2” to deliver natural gas to Germany, saying that this will help stabilize natural gas prices, and accused European countries of “stupidity” in blocking the “beixi-2” project.

The “beixi-2” pipeline from Russia to Germany was completed in September and is still waiting for the approval of German and EU regulatory authorities. The pipeline project was opposed by the United States, especially several Eastern European countries, who said the pipeline would make the EU more dependent on Russian natural gas. At present, 35% of the EU’s natural gas demand is met by Russia.

For the “countercurrent” of natural gas, Kremlin spokesman Peskov responded last week that this is not a political act, but a commercial act, and has nothing to do with the “beixi-2” project that has been suspended for review.

Towards the end of the year, the energy shortage crisis in Europe is still intensifying. Last Tuesday (December 21), the benchmark price of natural gas in Europe reached a new high, with an increase of 800% during the year, but it has dropped significantly in recent days.
