Wei Xiaoli, deputy director of Xi'an CDC, responded that there are two main reasons for the recent increase in cases in Xi'an.
First of all, the city has increased the intensity of large-scale nucleic acid screening, and has carried out multiple rounds of nucleic acid screening since December 21, so as to find more hidden cases. At present, one third of the cases found through nucleic acid screening in this round of epidemic situation account for one third. Through multiple rounds of nucleic acid screening, it is an important measure for prevention and control to find and isolate all infected persons as soon as possible. Facts have proved that it is also an effective method. Therefore, there may be a large number of reported cases in the short term. With the current decrease in the flow of citizens and the increase in the frequency of screening, it will help to screen out all potential infectious sources in the population and eliminate the hidden dangers of epidemic transmission.
Secondly, due to some new risk points, such as photoelectric Park in high tech Zone and Jingdong Logistics Park in Baqiao District, the high density and mobility of personnel lead to a wide range of cases, and the case reports increase rapidly in the short term. Control measures have been quickly taken for these risk points. With the implementation of various sealing and control measures, the epidemic situation in these areas will be effectively controlled
