Countdown to the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games: “ice and snow fever” is heating up

December 26 is the 40 day countdown to the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. The demonstration activity of “driving 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports” jointly sponsored by the winter sports management center of the State Sports Administration, the people’s Government of Shijingshan District and the Beijing terminal of China Central Radio and television was held in the Winter Olympic community of Shijingshan District.

The event kicked off with a mass singing activity. More than 200 guests from the cultural and sports circles, community residents, students and representatives of various industries gathered in the community cultural square to sing “me and my motherland” affectionately. Subsequently, the State Sports Administration awarded the title of “ice and Snow Sports Promotion Ambassador” to Jing Haipeng, Gao Fenglin and other outstanding representatives of various industries and sports stars. Since 2018, the “ice and snow ambassadors” of various industries have given full play to their demonstration and leading role, driven people of different ages and groups to join the ice and snow family, and played an important role in promoting and popularizing ice and snow sports. Yang Qian, the Olympic shooting champion who was awarded as “ice and snow ambassador”, said that we should show the “positive energy” of ice and snow sports and sports with a more positive image, and call on more people to participate in physical exercise.

During the event, the ice and snow theme animation promotional film “China’s ice and snow expansion (second season)” jointly produced by the winter sports center of the General Administration and Shanghai art film studio was officially released.

This series of promotional films selected Chinese classic animation characters such as monkey king and Nezha, based on the story of skating, skiing and ice hockey, spread Chinese traditional culture, carry forward Chinese sports spirit, and highlight the style of a big country and national style. In the first quarter of 2019, the cumulative number of hits on each communication platform exceeded 3 billion.

In addition, the signing and promotion launching ceremony of China’s ice and snow record films was also held at the event. The highlights of the two documentaries “song of ice and snow” and “light of ice and snow” appeared for the first time. It is reported that the film will meet with the audience on the occasion of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. “Many people don’t understand our real life. This is our daily training, which is harder than expected.” Short track speed skating world champion Ren Ziwei sighed.

Finally, the mass ice and snow experience held in the community comprehensive cultural center put a successful end to the countdown. The Winter Olympic collection exhibition, Winter Olympic theme art creation, table curling experience and other projects attracted the participation of many communities and surrounding residents. “I heard that there was a countdown today, so I brought my children here. Usually we often come to play table curling and like to go to Shougang park.” Zhou Yuan, a resident of Shijingshan District, said that she and her family had never been exposed to ice and snow sports before 2015. Since the successful application for the Winter Olympics, the whole family has become ice and snow fans. “Now the Olympic theme publicity and ice and snow elements can be seen everywhere, and the Winter Olympics atmosphere is particularly strong. As a Shijingshan person, I feel like a host.”

The “ice and snow fever” is heating up, which is also encouraging the athletes preparing for the Winter Olympic Games. Short track speed skating Winter Olympic champion Wu Dajing said that seeing so many people love and pay attention to ice and snow sports, he has more motivation. Figure skating world champion Sui Wenjing came to the Winter Olympic community for the second time. Two years ago, she came here with her partner Han Cong to promote figure skating. “I hope we can show our best performance in the Beijing Winter Olympics, attract more people to pay attention, participate in ice and snow sports, and ‘play’ with us.” Sui Wenjing said, “what sports bring people most is happiness. I hope everyone can enjoy this happiness like me every day.”
