Three offshore wind power projects in China were connected to the grid on the same day

According to China Three Gorges group, three offshore wind power projects invested and constructed by China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co.Ltd(600905) achieved the goal of full capacity grid connected power generation on the 25th, and the average annual power generation will reach 8 billion kwh.

On the same day, China’s first megawatt offshore wind farm – the Three Gorges Yangjiang Shaba offshore wind power project announced the realization of full capacity grid connected power generation.

The project is located in the South Sea area of Shaba Town, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, with a total installed capacity of 1.7 million KW. It can provide about 4.7 billion kwh of clean electric energy for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Dawan district every year, meet the annual power consumption of about 2 million households, and reduce about 4 million tons of carbon dioxide every year.

Lei Mingshan, party secretary and chairman of the Three Gorges group, said that the comprehensive and successful grid connection of the Three Gorges Yangjiang Shaba offshore wind power project has effectively promoted the technological innovation of offshore wind power survey and design, major equipment manufacturing and construction, driven the coordinated development of the whole offshore wind power industry chain in China, and accumulated valuable experience for the subsequent centralized and large-scale development of far-reaching offshore wind power projects, It has laid a good foundation for the realization of parity Internet access of offshore wind power in the future.

On the same day, Jiangsu Dafeng h8-2 offshore wind power project announced to achieve the goal of full capacity grid connected power generation. The farthest offshore distance of the project site is more than 80km, which is the farthest offshore wind power project in China.

The project is located in the southern waters of the Yellow Sea, with a total installed capacity of 300 MW and an average annual on grid power generation of 900 million kwh, which can meet the normal power demand of about 370000 households for one year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 760000 tons per year.

On the same day, the goal of full capacity grid connected power generation was also achieved by China’s first offshore wind power flexible DC transmission project – Jiangsu rudonghai wind power project. The project is located in the huangshayang sea area of Rudong County. It is the first offshore wind power project in Asia to adopt flexible direct transmission technology. The average annual on grid power generation will reach 2.4 billion kwh, which can meet the normal power demand of about 1 million households in one year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2 million tons per year.

Qin Haiyan, vice chairman of the world wind energy association and Secretary General of the wind energy professional committee of China Renewable Energy Society, said that the flexible DC transmission technology adopted by Jiangsu Rudong project has large cable transmission capacity, low loss, long service life and basically unlimited transmission distance, which can effectively solve the problem of large capacity and long-distance transmission of offshore wind farms, It will play a leading and exemplary role in China’s centralized and large-scale offshore wind power development and construction in the future.
