On December 21, China’s first commercial vehicle hydrogen engine developed by Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group (hereinafter referred to as “Yuchai”) was officially released at Beijing University of technology. The stable operation of this engine indicates that Yuchai has taken a key step in mastering the key technology of large-scale and low-cost utilization of hydrogen energy. It has also become an important step for China’s gas turbine industry to promote power transformation under the background of hydrogen energy era.
It is reported that hydrogen engine is an important technical path for China’s gas turbine industry to implement the “double carbon” goal. In order to break through the key technologies of hydrogen engine, Yuchai took the lead in establishing a project in the field of commercial vehicles in China, started the research and development of hydrogen engine, and strengthened scientific research cooperation with Beijing University of technology. The yck05 hydrogen combustion engine successfully ignited this time adopts a number of advanced special technologies such as high-pressure multi-point inlet injection technology, high-efficiency low inertia turbocharging technology and high-efficiency lean combustion technology, and comprehensively optimizes and upgrades the whole machine structure, combustion and gas distribution subsystems, overcoming the technical problems such as easy tempering and detonation of hydrogen combustion engine, which can be widely used in public transportation Municipal, sanitation, logistics and distribution, etc.
Sun Baigang, a professor of Beijing University of Technology who witnessed the success of this ignition, said that the thermal efficiency of yck05 hydrogen burning engine is equivalent to that of hydrogen fuel cells, and even better than some fuel cell products on the market. It not only has high hydrogen energy utilization efficiency, but also solves the mileage anxiety of pure electric system, and the time of hydrogen charging is shorter than that of fuel vehicles. Once the technology is mature and the infrastructure is perfect, The promotion of hydrogen burning engine will usher in explosive growth.
It is reported that in order to better meet the needs of customers, Yuchai has carried out technical research and reserves in light, medium and heavy hydrogen combustion engines. Yuchai will make full use of its advantages in internal combustion engine R & D, do solid basic work in the process of transforming hydrogen combustion engine development technology into large-scale commercial technology, form a relatively perfect development, testing and use standard system, and open up new fields for the achievement of the national double carbon goal.
