New breakthroughs have been made in the research and development of skid mounted natural gas hydrogen production equipment in China

Recently, CNOOC Gas & Power Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “gas & Power Group”) under CNOOC announced that China’s first set of 250nm3 / h (hydrogen production capacity of 250 standard m3 / h) skid mounted natural gas hydrogen production equipment with independent intellectual property rights has been successfully commissioned, marking that China’s skid mounted natural gas hydrogen production technology has reached the international advanced level, It is a milestone in the process of engineering application of hydrogen energy technology in China.

Under the condition of full load, 4.8 standard cubic meters of natural gas can produce 11 standard cubic meters of hydrogen. The overall efficiency of the equipment is high, and many indexes such as system consumption, equipment size and product purity are better than those of foreign mainstream equipment.

Hydrogen energy is a clean secondary energy, which has the characteristics of zero carbon and energy storage. It can be transformed with electric energy to help achieve carbon emission reduction in high emission fields such as transportation, construction, industry and power generation. It has become an important direction of global clean energy transformation. In the future, it will play a more promoter and synergist role between traditional fossil energy and renewable energy.

This set of equipment is jointly developed by gas power group, Southwest Chemical Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., Foran Energy Group Co.Ltd(002911) . The three parties optimize the design according to the characteristics of the hydrogenation station, which can immediately produce fuel hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles, providing a localized hydrogen source solution for the construction of the first batch of fuel cell vehicle demonstration urban agglomeration in China.

“The equipment can take gas from urban natural gas pipeline and produce hydrogen by natural gas and steam reforming process. It does not need to transport hydrogen to the station by long pipe trailer from the centralized hydrogen production plant. It plays a positive role in reducing the terminal hydrogen cost and reducing the risk of urban road transportation. In addition to self-sufficiency, it can also supply hydrogen source outside the conventional hydrogenation station.” Song Pengfei, project leader of gas power group.

This set of equipment is highly integrated, covers a small area, and has the characteristics of overall skid mounted, easy installation and mobility. It makes it possible to reconstruct or expand hydrogen production and hydrogenation stations by using the existing gas stations and natural gas stations in the city, which can effectively solve the difficult and expensive problems of hydrogen consumption in Chinese cities, and plays an important role in promoting the infrastructure construction in the field of hydrogen energy in China.

In addition, its key equipment, the new reformer, has the advantages of small volume, high high temperature conversion efficiency and wide application range; The conversion and shift catalyst has high selectivity and strong activity, which can meet the demand of frequent adjustment of equipment load; The intelligent control system can realize intelligent operations such as “one key start and stop” and “one key load adjustment”.
