On December 22, the reporter of Beijing business daily learned that under the guidance of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, the China Insurance Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as the “insurance industry association”) developed and built a talent pool for independent directors of insurance institutions (hereinafter referred to as the “independent director talent pool”), which was officially launched on December 20.
The talent pool of Independent Directors consists of the information of incumbent independent directors and the talent information of alternative independent directors. Insurance institutions disclose the basic information, participation in the board of directors, annual performance evaluation and other information of all existing independent directors in the talent pool of independent directors. Candidates for independent directors include senior professionals engaged in finance, accounting, auditing, law, science and technology finance and artificial intelligence in insurance related fields, current or retired senior managers (or equivalent) of banks, securities companies, fund companies and other non insurance financial institutions.
Qualified social personages can enter the independent director talent pool through the service platform column of the official website of the Insurance Association, register and submit the warehousing application.
The Insurance Association said that at present, there are 385 independent directors in insurance institutions, and 104 alternative independent directors disclose information in the independent director talent pool. 91 insurance institutions disclosed the participation of existing independent directors and 87 insurance companies disclosed the performance evaluation of existing independent directors in 2020.
Next, the insurance association will further study the connection between the independent director talent pool and the China Insurance Network University platform, and deepen the continuing education of independent directors; Increase the data statistics function of the talent pool of independent directors, conduct statistical research on the talent structure and performance of independent directors every year, timely start the construction of the talent pool of external supervisors and senior executives, and continue to help insurance institutions improve their corporate governance ability.
