Grid connected power generation of the first batch of units of an ultra-high altitude wind farm in Tibet

The first batch of units of Tibet cuomei Zhegu distributed wind farm, an ultra-high altitude wind power project in Tibet, were connected to the grid on December 22.

Zhegu wind power project is invested by the Three Gorges group. The wind farm is located in Zhegu Town, cuomei County, Shannan City, Tibet, at an altitude of more than 4850m, and the height of the highest hub center of the unit is 5158.4m.

During the construction of the project, the staff overcame the difficulties such as hypoxia in the plateau, heavy rain and snow. The hoisting of the first unit began on May 10 this year and all units were completed on October 7. It is reported that the total installed capacity of the wind farm is 22 MW, and a 110 kV booster station is built.

It is reported that the project is a scientific research demonstration project of ultra-high altitude wind power in China, which will promote the wind power industry to carry out technical exploration in ultra-high altitude areas. The completion of the project can effectively drive local economic and social development, improve local energy structure and enrich local tourism resources.
