New breakthroughs have been made in the exploration and development of continental shale oil in Dagang Oilfield. The reporter learned from Dagang Oilfield in Tianjin on the 22nd that the shale oil output of the oilfield has reached 100000 tons in 2021, and the daily output is stable at more than 300 tons at present. “This is another milestone achievement made by Dagang Oilfield in the large-scale exploration and development of continental shale oil after the comprehensive breakthrough of industrialized development of three sets of main shale strata in Bohai Bay basin.” Chen Changwei, manager of the new project business department of Dagang Oilfield Company, said.
Shale oil can be divided into marine shale oil and continental shale oil. China is rich in continental shale oil reserves, which are mainly distributed in large sedimentary basins such as Bohai Bay, Songliao and Junggar.
The development and construction of Dagang Oilfield began in 1964. It is the third oil and gas field independently developed by new China after Daqing and Shengli. The exploration area of the oilfield is rich in shale oil resources. Relevant exploration began as early as 2013, but due to the constraints of theoretical understanding, evaluation methods and engineering technology, there has been no breakthrough in industrialization. Until 2019, the stable production of two shale oil wells will be completed, marking that China takes the lead in realizing the industrialized development of continental shale oil in Bohai Bay basin.
Chen Changwei said that in the past three years, Dagang Oilfield has continuously deepened the key technology research of high and stable shale oil production. With the support of new theoretical and technological innovation, shale oil development has achieved multi-point breakthroughs. Since the beginning of the year, Dagang Oilfield has promoted three major projects of increasing production of new shale oil wells, stabilizing production of old wells and increasing production by measures, and successively obtained four high-yield wells with a daily output of more than 100 m3 in Kong2 section of Cangdong sag, with a maximum daily output of 208 M3.
“Up to now, the cumulative output of shale oil in Dagang Oilfield has exceeded 180000 tons, and the output this year has reached 100000 tons, which has become an important resource for stable production of the oilfield.” Chen Changwei said. The application of a series of new technologies has boosted the steady decline of shale oil development cost, showing good single well production capacity and economic benefit potential.
