In 2021, Ningbo overcame the adverse effects of “switching off and power rationing”, typhoon and lack of shipping space and containers. Ningbo completed 1.204 million TEUs of container sea rail intermodal transport, with a year-on-year increase of 19.8%, ranking second in Chinese ports.
In 2022, Ningbo will take multiple measures to continuously expand and innovate its business model and make every effort to promote the development of sea rail intermodal transport to higher quality.
In terms of infrastructure construction, the city has accelerated the progress of Yongjin railway project, completed an investment of 1.8 billion yuan, and strive to realize the connection of the whole line, so as to create conditions for its completion and operation as soon as possible.
In addition, the city will also actively promote the preliminary work of the double track Beilun railway branch line and Meishan railway branch line projects, start construction as soon as possible, and Promote Railway access to the port area.
In terms of business development, Ningbo will actively expand its hinterland and carry out special actions to increase the volume of transportation. In the whole year, more than 2 prefecture level cities and more than 2 new trains will be connected.

According to reports, in terms of enhancing the competitiveness of sea rail intermodal transport development, the city will also increase the promotion of the whole sea rail intermodal transport bill of lading, continue to expand the transportation scale of “bulk to collection”, “miscellaneous to collection” and “public to rail”, and strengthen the operation of special trains for “35 ton open top box” transportation of coal, yellow sand and so on; At the same time, the “Ningbo North Beilun port station” sea rail intermodal short-distance port dredging special train will continue to be opened to alleviate the shortage of storage yards in the port during peak hours, reduce road traffic congestion and help the special action of carbon peak and carbon neutralization.
As the innovation of double-layer container sea rail intermodal transport of the pilot project of the Ministry of transport, the operation regulations and operation guidelines for double-layer container transportation will be formulated and issued in 2022, and the preliminary research and preparation for the test of double-layer high container transportation will be done well. At the same time, the city will also accelerate the intelligent construction of sea rail intermodal transport, realize the automatic sending function of business messages between ports and more shipping companies, and launch the mobile app business query function to improve operation efficiency and service quality.
According to the latest statistics, from January to February 2022, the city has completed 227500 TEUs of container sea rail intermodal transport, with a year-on-year increase of 62.2%.
