Beijing, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) after nearly seven years of preparation, China has presented an “unparalleled” Winter Olympic event for the world. It has formed many valuable Winter Olympic heritages in 35 fields in seven aspects: sports, economy, culture, society, environment, urban and regional development, and has achieved positive results in promoting and driving the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, It has promoted the coordinated development of cities and regions and led the progress of social civilization.
This was introduced by Liu Xinghua, director of the Heritage Management Department of the overall planning department of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, at the press conference on the effectiveness of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei held today.
Liu Xinghua said that BOCOG has always adhered to the concept of “green, sharing, openness and integrity” and promoted all preparations with high standards and quality. In order to better plan and create the Winter Olympic heritage and accelerate economic and social development, since the beginning of preparation, the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee has worked closely with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, together with relevant national departments and relevant units of the governments of Beijing and Zhang, to study and formulate the heritage strategic plan of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and winter Paralympic Games consistent with the long-term development objectives of the region, We will strive to create rich Winter Olympic heritage in 35 fields in seven aspects: sports, economy, culture, society, environment, urban and regional development, so as to better play the leading role of driving the Olympic Games, promote the coordinated development of cities and regions, and lead the progress of social civilization.
Liu Xinghua said that with the preparation of the Winter Olympics as the starting point, positive results have been achieved in promoting and driving the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, which are reflected in the following four aspects:
First, transportation facilities are connected. The preparation for the Winter Olympics has accelerated the pace of transportation infrastructure construction in the Beijing Zhangjiakou region. The Beijing Zhangjiakou high-speed railway and the Beijing Lijiang expressway have been opened to traffic one after another, greatly shortening the travel time of the third competition area of the Beijing Winter Olympics. It takes only 50 minutes from Beijing Qinghe station to taizicheng station in Zhangjiakou competition area. The Beijing Lijiang expressway has shortened the time from the Sixth Ring Road to Zhangjiakou by half from the original 3 hours, Provide faster and more convenient transportation services for various customer groups during the games, and also provide strong support for the long-term sustainable development of the region after the games.
Second, joint prevention and treatment of ecological environment. We have thoroughly implemented the concept of Green Olympics, focused on the control of gas, sand and water, promoted the joint prevention and treatment of regional ecological environment, and greatly improved the quality of regional ecological environment such as atmosphere, water and forest. Especially during the Winter Olympic Games, the air quality in Beijing reached PM2 5 the best level since the test, “Beijing Blue” has become the norm. Simultaneously implement the ecological restoration of the competition area, minimize the impact of venue construction on the original ecological environment, promote the recycling of water resources, and protect the ecological environment of the competition area with high convenience.
Third, industrial development complements and promotes each other. Taking the opportunity of the preparation for the Winter Olympics, Beijing and Zhangjiakou give full play to their respective comparative advantages, actively promote regional cooperation in the Winter Olympics + fields, especially in the manufacturing of ice and snow equipment, new energy and high-tech industries, and strive to build a complementary and mutually promoting industrial system. For example, through the Zhangbei flexible DC power grid project and the cross regional green power trading mechanism, 100% of all venues will be powered by renewable energy for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games.
Fourth, build and share public services. Taking the opportunity of the preparation for the Winter Olympics, Beijing Zhangjiakou region will increase investment in communication facilities, accommodation and catering, medical services, education and other aspects, establish and improve the mechanism of coordination and sharing, and strive to promote and realize the improvement of the overall public service level of the region, so as to bring more happiness and sense of gain to the broad masses of the people. For example, the Third Hospital of Peking University cooperated with Zhangjiakou government to upgrade Chongli District People’s hospital to Chongli District of the Third Hospital of Beijing Medical College. As the only regional medical center in Hebei Province, it not only promoted the improvement of medical and health level in the whole Zhangjiakou area, but also radiated the timely treatment of major group events and sports trauma in the surrounding five provinces and regions.
Liu Xinghua pointed out that in the next step, relying on the resources of Winter Olympic venues and Olympic parks, we will consolidate the achievements of the Winter Olympic Games, inherit and make good use of the Olympic heritage, implement the construction plan of Beijing Zhangjiakou sports cultural tourism belt jointly issued and implemented by the Ministry of culture and tourism, the national development and Reform Commission and the State Administration of sports in January 2022, and vigorously promote the integrated development of sports industry, cultural leisure and ice and snow tourism, Build a gathering place for regional events and exhibitions and a territory for national fitness, accelerate the construction of the Beijing Zhangjiakou sports and cultural tourism belt, help the construction of the “new landmark for the revitalization of the capital city” in western Beijing, the “most beautiful winter Olympic city” in Yanqing and the “all Asia ice and snow tourism destination” in Zhangjiakou, and inject new impetus into the sustainable development of the city and the long-term development of regional integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
