At present, Binhai New Area has FAW Volkswagen, FAW Toyota, Great Wall Motor Company Limited(601633) 3 leading automobile enterprises, more than 200 various parts and auto service providers, and more than 100 automobile enterprise users cooperated with PPG Tianjin factory.
With perfect industrial chain and good business environment, PPG has developed rapidly in the past 28 years since its landing in Tianjin, and the number of employees has increased from dozens when the factory was built to nearly 2000 now; The production scale has also developed from 40000 square meters to 100000 square meters, becoming the largest coating production base in the world. Anchoring the development opportunity of “building a city with manufacturing industry”, PPG stepped up the adjustment of layout and expanded from manufacturing plant to R & D center. In the context of “double carbon”, the output of new energy vehicles in Tianjin increased by 54.3% in the past year, attracting PPG to focus on the field of battery pack coatings for new energy vehicles. The enterprise has invested nearly 200 million yuan to build an intelligent travel coating application center to provide solutions for enhancing the endurance and fire resistance of new energy batteries. It is planned to be built this year and put into use next year.
With innovation driven development and planning to develop a new generation of high-tech coating products, PPG global coating innovation center is under construction. In the site selection stage, Binhai New Area stood out from 17 cities across the country and won the project with good industrial foundation and talent resources. In the future, the cutting-edge coating R & D technology will radiate from Tianjin to the world. Some time ago, the project was delayed due to the epidemic. In order to ensure the completion of the project by the end of this year, the construction project management center of the Economic Development Zone broke the previous routine of building by building acceptance of the main structure. On the premise of ensuring quality and safety, enterprises were allowed to build buildings and promote the installation of pipe fittings inside the building through layered acceptance.
