On February 18, 2022, Audi FAW new energy vehicle project was officially launched. The new electric vehicle plant in Changchun is about to start. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2024. The completed plant will be Audi's first new energy plant in China.
The reporter of Securities Daily learned that in the past few months, Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. has achieved another important milestone: Based on intensive preparations and the approval of relevant departments, the construction of a new factory in Changchun is ready to go. The planned annual production capacity of the factory is 150000 vehicles. It is worth mentioning that factory production will achieve carbon dioxide neutralization and full interconnection.
Dusman, chairman of the management board of Audi AG, said: "Audi FAW New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. plays a central role in Audi's electrification strategy in China. We will spare no effort to promote the further development of the company and promote the construction of the plant."
By the end of 2024, a highly advanced Audi pure electric vehicle production base will be built in Changchun.

It is understood that in the new factory, the new information technology architecture will connect all processes online. The implementation of the trans regional environmental plan "mission zero" will contribute to sustainable production and better automobile manufacturing in Changchun through carbon dioxide neutralization and comprehensive interconnection. In addition to the production areas such as stamping, welding, coating and final assembly workshop, the factory will also be equipped with its own battery assembly workshop. The first building of the factory is planned to start construction after the end of the frost period.
The new factory in Changchun will be Audi's first production base specializing in the production of pure electric vehicles in China. The planned annual production capacity of the plant will reach 150000 vehicles, which will make an important contribution to the electrification development of Audi's model lineup in China in the future. According to the plan, the factory will first put into production three models based on the PPE platform (jointly developed by Audi and Porsche). The initial production models will include a pure electric SUV and a pure electric car.
