The main body of China's six world's largest liquefied natural gas storage tanks has been built

Today (20th), the concrete pouring of all bearing platforms of six liquefied natural gas storage tanks with the world's largest single tank capacity of 270000 cubic meters in the "green energy port" of CNOOC Yancheng was completed, and the construction of the main body of the storage tank was officially started.

After the completion of the 270000 m3 LNG storage tank independently designed and built by China, it will reach a height of 60 meters, equivalent to the height of the bird's nest of the National Stadium, and can stack three Boeing 747 airliners at the same time. The construction of six 270000 m3 storage tanks is also the largest of similar projects in the world.

CNOOC Yancheng "green energy port", namely Jiangsu Binhai LNG terminal project, is a key planning project for the construction and interconnection of national natural gas production, supply, storage and marketing system. It is also the largest LNG reserve base under construction in China. The project will build 10 large LNG storage tanks, including the first 4 220000 m3 storage tanks and the expanded 6 270000 m3 storage tanks. After being put into operation at the end of 2023, the annual processing capacity of LNG can reach 6 million tons.

It is not only a green energy transmission and storage hub, but also an important supporting function for "green energy transmission and storage" of natural gas, which not only optimizes the structure of natural gas transmission and power generation, but also has the functions of "green energy" and "green energy generation", It is of great significance to accelerate the industrial transformation of the Yangtze River economic belt and help China achieve "carbon peak and carbon neutralization".

It is understood that 6 million tons of liquefied natural gas is equivalent to 8.5 billion cubic meters of gaseous natural gas. According to the calculation that the daily gas consumption of residents in Jiangsu Province is about 10 million cubic meters in 2020, it can provide gas for the people's livelihood of the whole province for about 28 months, and can reduce 28.5 million tons of carbon dioxide and 232500 tons of sulfur dioxide, which is equivalent to planting 60 million trees.

CNOOC is currently planning the phase II project of "green energy port" in Yancheng. It plans to build another 10 270000 m3 LNG storage tanks and increase the LNG receiving capacity of 10 million tons per year, so as to provide greater help for the green development of the Yangtze River economic belt.
