Mercedes Benz recalled some EQC electric vehicles and extended the warranty of electric drive modules to 250000 kilometers in 10 years

Since August 15, 2022, part of EQC has been recalled, with a total of 10104 vehicles.

Due to the supplier’s production deviation, the cooling system in the electric drive module of some EQC vehicles may have insufficient sealing, or will lead to coolant leakage. When the fault occurs, the vehicle combination instrument will prompt corresponding warning information. Under extreme conditions, the output power of the electric drive module of the vehicle may be reduced or the vehicle cannot be started. When the above extreme conditions occur, it will not affect the driving safety.

As a preventive measure, Mercedes Benz decided to check the production serial number of the electric drive module for free one by one for the vehicles within the recall range through the authorized dealer. If the production serial number is within the affected range, the electric drive module will be replaced free of charge to eliminate the hidden trouble.

The reporter of China business daily further learned from Mercedes Benz that the electric drive modules involved in this recall were produced by overseas factories of relevant suppliers. Affected by a variety of uncertain factors in the current overseas market, including the epidemic, the current reserves of the parts can not meet the parts reserves for immediate recall. To this end, Mercedes Benz is also actively coordinating the supply of parts with relevant parts suppliers to ensure that the recall with high efficiency and high quality will be launched on time on August 15.

For the above situation, Mercedes Benz actively responded and formulated the additional content beyond the recall announcement: the current spare parts reserve can meet the daily warranty service. Before the formal implementation of the recall, Mercedes Benz has the ability to ensure that the corresponding electric drive module of the customer’s vehicle can be replaced in time in case of relevant faults, so as to ensure the safe driving of passengers.

It is reported that after the implementation of the recall measures, the electric drive modules involved will be extended from the existing warranty period of 8 years and 160000 kilometers (subject to the first come) to 10 years and 250000 kilometers (subject to the first come).

At the same time, Mercedes Benz said that the electric drive module, as the core component of the vehicle, must register the information change with the relevant local authorities after replacement. Considering the inconvenience caused to customers, we will cooperate with the dealer to do our best to assist customers to complete the information change registration based on the relevant policies of the vehicle registration location; In addition, other necessary assistance will be provided as needed according to the actual situation to minimize the inconvenience of customers.
